Yokogawa UT450-04/Z

Product Series: UT450 Advanced Indicating Controller

Product Introduction:
The UT450-04/Z is a 1/4 DIN (96 × 96 mm) advanced panel-mount controller with 4 universal inputs, 3 relay outputs, 2 analog outputs, and Ethernet/RS-485/USB communication. The “04” denotes 4 control loops, and “Z” indicates the grounding terminal. It is designed for complex multi-variable process control in a compact footprint.

Detailed content

Working Principle:
The UT450 independently processes up to 4 input channels. Each channel runs its own control algorithm (ON/OFF or PID with auto-tuning). The controller compares each process variable to its setpoint and drives the corresponding relay and/or analog output. Communication via Ethernet, RS-485, or USB allows remote monitoring, parameter changes, and data logging.

  • Case: ABS resin (UL94 V-0)
  • Terminal blocks: Glass-filled PBT, UL recognized, screw-clamp type

Structure Features:

  • Large LCD display showing all 4 process values simultaneously
  • Front panel keys with lock function for parameter protection
  • Dual-color bar graph for trend visualization
  • SD card slot for data logging
  • USB port for local configuration and firmware update

Advantages:

  • 4 independent control loops in a single 1/4 DIN instrument
  • Ethernet connectivity enables web-based monitoring and control
  • Auto-tuning PID with heating/cooling control
  • Data logging with SD card eliminates need for external recorder
  • Large display improves readability in control rooms

Applicable Industries:
Chemical processing, pharmaceutical manufacturing, food and beverage, power generation, water treatment, HVAC, plastic molding, semiconductor manufacturing

Installation Requirements:

  • Cut panel opening to 92 × 92 mm
  • Mount with DIN clips or screws
  • Connect all 4 input channels to respective terminals
  • Wire relay outputs to external actuators, alarms, or interlocks
  • Connect Ethernet cable to RJ-45 port for network integration
  • Connect Z terminal to clean earth ground

Usage Notes:

  • Configure each loop independently using front panel or PC software (UTAdvanced)
  • Use auto-tuning only when the process is stable — do not initiate during startup transients
  • Set communication parameters (IP address, Modbus slave ID) before connecting to SCADA
  • Back up parameters to SD card periodically
  • Do not block the front panel ventilation slots
