PACIFIC SCIENTIFIC 6440-001-K-N

Product Name: Pacific Scientific 6440-001-K-N AC Input Microstepping Drive and Indexer
Product Introduction: This unit is an AC-powered microstepping drive and indexer for medium-power two-phase stepper motors. It combines internal rectification, microstep amplifier and mnemonic indexer functions in one package.

Detailed content

Technical Specifications: AC input is 120/240 VAC ±10%/-15%, 50/60 Hz. Output current is adjustable from 0.625 A rms to 5.0 A rms in bipolar chopper mode. Chopper frequency is approximately 20 kHz. Serial interface is RS-232 or RS-422/485 at 9600 bps. Nonvolatile program memory is 1792 bytes. Fuse rating is 5 A slow-blow, 250 VAC. Operating temperature is 0°C to 50°C. Storage temperature is -40°C to 70°C. Humidity is 10% to 90% RH. Weight is approximately 2.7 kg.
Functional Features: No external DC supply is required. Standalone indexing uses mnemonic programming. Electronic damping reduces resonance without PID tuning. RS-485 networking supports multiple drives. Microstep resolution is configurable.
Application Scenarios: Semiconductor transfer stages, vacuum gate drives, packaging cut-off stations, rotary indexers, legacy machine upgrades and programmable positioning fixtures.
Performance Parameters: Internal rectifier produces the DC bus for microstepping output. Indexer executes stored motion sequences. Discrete I/O or serial commands trigger moves. Current setting is adjusted by DIP switches before operation.
Material Composition: Metal/industrial enclosure, PCB, bridge rectifier, MOSFET chopper stage, indexer microprocessor, serial transceiver, EEPROM/NV memory, connectors and cooling surfaces.
Structural Characteristics: AC-input drive with bottom ventilation area, motor output terminals, serial port, I/O terminals, current/DIP configuration and indexer programming interface.
Working Principle: AC mains is rectified to DC, then the bipolar chopper regulates winding current according to step/direction or internal indexer commands. The mnemonic indexer stores motion programs in nonvolatile memory and executes position, speed and dwell sequences.
Installation Requirements: Ground the enclosure properly. Install AC line fuse before incoming supply. Provide bottom convection clearance. Set current DIP switches before power-on. Confirm K suffix AC version before wiring.
Usage Precautions: AC terminals remain energized when the motor is stationary. Do not operate above 50°C. Relearn position parameters after control board replacement. Keep connectors, covers and heat-dissipation accessories according to ordered configuration.
