B&R 7AT352.70

Product Type: Analog Temperature Input Module

Model Number: 7AT352.70

Product Introduction:
The B&R 7AT352.70 is a 2-channel analog temperature input module from the X20 series. It is specifically designed for direct connection of resistive temperature detectors (RTDs) including PT100, PT1000, and Ni100 sensors. The module provides high-precision temperature measurement for industrial process control.

Structural Characteristics:

  • DIN rail mounting (TS 35)
  • Plug-in terminal blocks with spring clamps
  • ABS plastic housing
  • Status LEDs on front face
  • X20 bus connector on bottom

Working Principle:
The module generates a precision constant current (1 mA) through the RTD sensor. The voltage drop across the RTD is measured by a 12-bit ADC. In 4-wire mode, separate sense leads eliminate lead resistance error. In 3-wire mode, the module compensates for lead resistance mathematically. The measured resistance is converted to temperature using the Callendar-Van Dusen equation (IEC 60751). Digital results are sent to the controller via X20 bus.

Advantages & Highlights:

  • Direct RTD connection eliminates need for external transmitters
  • 4-wire mode provides highest accuracy with lead resistance compensation
  • Supports PT100, PT1000, and Ni100 — no hardware changes required
  • Open-circuit and short-circuit diagnostics built in
  • 12-bit resolution ensures fine temperature granularity

Applicable Industries:

  • Plastics and rubber processing
  • Metalworking and heat treatment
  • Food processing (ovens, pasteurizers)
  • Pharmaceutical batch processing
  • Power generation (turbine monitoring)
  • HVAC and building automation

Installation Requirements:

  • Mount on DIN rail (TS 35 x 7.5 or TS 35 x 15)
  • Use dedicated shielded twisted-pair cables for RTD connections
  • Keep sensor cables away from high-power cables (minimum 100 mm separation)
  • Connect to X20 base module or X20 system bus
  • For 2-wire mode, keep lead wire length under 5 meters for acceptable accuracy

Usage Precautions:

  • Always configure correct wiring mode (2/3/4-wire) in software to match physical wiring
  • Do not exceed maximum sensor current of 1 mA (module-limited, inherent protection)
  • Verify sensor type selection matches installed RTD
  • For 2-wire configuration, account for lead resistance in accuracy budget
