Atlas Copco TC-4000-S

Product Category: Towable Mobile Air Compressor — Single-Stage Compression

Product Introduction:
The TC-4000-S is a single-stage towable compressor delivering 4,000 CFM. The “S” denotes single-stage compression. This is the most cost-effective configuration in the TC-4000 series, suitable for high-volume applications where discharge air temperature is not a critical factor. Drive type and enclosure options vary by regional configuration (commonly electric or diesel).

Detailed content

Technical Specifications:

  • Free Air Delivery (FAD): 4,000 CFM (113.3 m³/min) at 100 PSI (7 bar)
  • Maximum Working Pressure: 175 PSI (12 bar)
  • Drive Type: Varies by configuration — commonly Electric Motor 315 kW (422 HP) or Diesel Engine 350 kW (469 HP)
  • Power Supply (Electric): 400V / 50Hz / 3-phase
  • Compression Stages: Single-Stage (S)
  • Operating Weight: Approximately 6,500 kg (14,330 lbs) — electric variant
  • Dimensions (L × W × H): Approximately 5,300 × 2,200 × 2,300 mm
  • Noise Level: 102 dB(A) at 7 meters

Functional Features:

  • Single-Stage Compression (S): Simpler air end design, lower purchase price
  • High Flow at Low Cost: Best CFM-per-dollar ratio in the TC-4000 family
  • Robust Trailer: Tandem-axle with air brakes and road lighting
  • Standard Aftercooler: Air-cooled plate-fin with automatic condensate drain

Performance Parameters:

Parameter Value
FAD @ 100 PSI 4,000 CFM (113.3 m³/min)
FAD @ 40 PSI 4,800 CFM (136.0 m³/min)
Max Pressure 175 PSI (12 bar)
Motor/Engine Power 315 kW (422 HP) electric / 350 kW (469 HP) diesel
Compression Stages 1 (Single)
Discharge Temperature Approximately 160°C (320°F)
Duty Cycle 100% continuous

Material Composition:

  • Frame: Welded structural steel with anti-corrosion coating
  • Air End: Cast iron single-stage rotary screw
  • Tank: ASME / PED certified carbon steel — 450-liter capacity
  • Aftercooler: Aluminum plate-fin — air-cooled
  • Trailer: Galvanized steel chassis

Structural Characteristics:

  • Tandem-axle trailer with hydraulic leveling jacks
  • Full-width rear service platform
  • Integrated control panel with analog gauges and digital hour meter
  • Forklift pockets on all four sides

Working Principle:
Electric motor or diesel engine drives a single-stage rotary screw air end. Ambient air is filtered, compressed in one stage to the target pressure, then routed through an air-cooled aftercooler. The single-stage process produces higher discharge temperatures (approximately 160°C) compared to two-stage units. Compressed air exits through a moisture separator and delivery connection.

Advantage Highlights:

  • Lowest capital cost in the 4,000 CFM class
  • Simplest design — fewest components to maintain
  • Highest flow rate per unit of investment
  • Suitable for applications where air temperature is not critical (rock drilling, jackhammering, general construction)

Applicable Industries:
Rock drilling, jackhammer operations, general construction, concrete batching, bulk pneumatic tool operations, quarry blasting

Model Series: TC-4000 Series — Towable Compressors (4,000 CFM class) — Single Stage

Installation Requirements:

  • 400V 3-phase supply (electric) with minimum 500A capacity, or diesel fuel supply
  • Level, compacted surface — minimum 6,500 kg load capacity
  • 3-meter clearance on all sides for airflow

Usage Precautions:

  • Do not use for paint spraying, food-grade air, or sensitive pneumatic instruments — discharge temperature of 160°C will damage coatings, contaminate product, and reduce tool life
  • Install an additional aftercooler if cooler air is required
  • Change compressor oil every 4,000 hours
  • Monitor discharge temperature gauge — do not exceed 175°C
