Yokogawa YS1360-121

Product Overview:
The Yokogawa YS1360-121 is a field-mounted voice alarm from the YS1360 series configured for continuous tone alarm output with integrated LED beacon. The “121” model code specifies a continuous 105 dB tone with red LED beacon and standard mounting configuration. It is designed for hazardous area installations requiring clear audible and visual alarm notification.

Material Composition:

  • Enclosure: GRP (glass-fiber reinforced polyester) with UV-resistant gel coat
  • Lens: UV-stabilized polycarbonate
  • Internal components: Conformal-coated PCB
  • Cable gland: Nickel-plated brass with EPDM seal

Structural Features:

  • Compact wall-mount design
  • Front-facing speaker grille
  • Top-mounted rotating LED beacon
  • Side-mounted DIP switches for configuration
  • Stainless steel mounting flange

Working Principle:
A dry contact closure on any of the 4 alarm inputs triggers the internal controller. The controller activates the audio amplifier, which drives the speaker to produce a continuous 105 dB tone. The LED driver circuit simultaneously activates the rotating red beacon. The system draws power from a 24 V DC loop. The alarm remains active until the input contact opens or a manual reset is performed.

Advantages & Highlights:

  • High 105 dB output ensures audibility in noisy environments
  • Continuous tone provides unambiguous alarm indication
  • IP66/IP67 rating for outdoor and washdown use
  • Intrinsically safe for Zone 0, 1, and 2 installation
  • Simple DIP switch configuration — no software required

Applicable Industries:

  • Oil and gas production facilities
  • Chemical plants
  • Power stations
  • Water treatment plants
  • Offshore platforms

Installation Requirements:

  • Mount on a vertical surface at 2.0–3.5 m height
  • Ensure unobstructed 360° visibility of the LED beacon
  • Use certified cable glands for hazardous area wiring
  • Connect to a 24 V DC intrinsically safe barrier if required
  • Verify alarm input wiring (normally open or normally closed) matches the DCS logic

Usage Precautions:

  • Test the alarm monthly using the front-panel test button
  • Do not exceed 30 V DC on any input terminal
  • Do not block the speaker grille or LED lens
  • Replace the unit if the sound output drops below specified levels
  • Do not open the enclosure in a classified area
