YOKOGAWA STLD-301*E/MTS/PA

Product Overview:
The STLD-301*E/MTS/PA is a 2-wire, loop-powered smart temperature transmitter from Yokogawa’s STLD300 series. It supports thermocouple (TC) and resistance temperature detector (RTD) sensors with Multi-Sensor Technology (MTS) allowing field reconfiguration between sensor types. The suffix breakdown: *E = HART 7 communication, MTS = Multi-Sensor Technology, PA = Intrinsically Safe (Ex ia IIC T4 Ga).

Material Composition:

  • Housing: Aluminum alloy (die-cast) with epoxy coating
  • Process Connection: SUS316L stainless steel
  • Terminal Block: Glass-filled PBT
  • Gasket: Viton (standard), EPDM (optional)

Advantages:

  • High accuracy of ±0.1% for RTD inputs
  • Built-in process alarm eliminates need for separate alarm unit
  • HART communication enables remote configuration and diagnostics
  • SIL 2 certified for safety-critical applications
  • Wide input type flexibility from a single transmitter

Applicable Industries:
Refining, chemical processing, power plants, HVAC, food processing, pharmaceutical, pulp and paper, steel manufacturing

Installation Requirements:

  • Mount the transmitter with the process connection pointing downward for liquid services
  • Use a thermowell for high-pressure or high-velocity applications
  • Ensure thermowell immersion depth is sufficient (minimum 5× thermowell diameter)
  • For TC inputs, use correct extension wire type (K-type for Type K, etc.)
  • Shield all input wiring and ground at one end only

Usage Notes:

  • Perform sensor calibration at the transmitter using HART communicator
  • Set alarm deadband to prevent relay oscillation at the setpoint
  • Verify loop power supply voltage exceeds minimum operating voltage (12 V DC) plus voltage drop across loop resistance
  • For Pt100 3-wire connections, ensure all three leads are the same length and material
