YOKOGAWA SR5300A
Product Introduction:
The SR5300A is a 32-channel paper recorder from Yokogawa’s SR5000 series, designated as the “A” (Advanced) version. It records process data on standard 100 mm wide chart paper using heated-stylus or dot-matrix recording methods. It supports a wide range of input types including thermocouple, RTD, voltage, current, and pulse signals. The SR5300A is designed for applications requiring a permanent paper record for regulatory compliance and audit purposes.

Working Principle:
The SR5300A receives process signals from up to 32 field sensors. Each signal is conditioned by dedicated input circuitry and converted by a high-precision A/D converter. The processed value drives a corresponding heated stylus pen, which burns a continuous line onto the moving 100 mm chart paper. The paper advances at the selected speed (6.25–100 mm/h). Alarm events cause the pen to mark a distinct annotation on the chart. The GPIB interface allows a connected computer to read chart data digitally for archival.
Advantages & Highlights:
- 32 channels on a single recorder — eliminates the need for multiple units
- Permanent paper record — provides legally defensible documentation for regulatory audits
- Heated-stylus recording produces high-contrast, smudge-proof charts
- GPIB interface enables digital backup of paper records
- A version offers enhanced accuracy and additional features over the standard SR5300
Applicable Industries:
- Pharmaceutical Manufacturing (FDA 21 CFR Part 11 compliance)
- Chemical Processing
- Power Plants (boiler and turbine monitoring)
- Oil and Gas Refining
- Environmental Monitoring Stations
- Food and Beverage (HACCP documentation)
- Research and Development Laboratories
Installation Requirements:
- Place on a stable, level benchtop or mount in a 19-inch rack (with adapter)
- Provide 100–240 V AC power with ≤ 5% voltage fluctuation
- Connect field signals using shielded cables; ground shields at the recorder end
- Load chart paper from the front before powering on
- Ensure ambient temperature is between 0 °C and +50 °C
- Provide minimum 100 mm clearance in front for paper access
Usage Precautions:
- Use only Yokogawa-specified 100 mm chart paper (B9565AW or equivalent)
- Replace pen tips when recording quality degrades (visual inspection every 3 months)
- Do not touch the heated stylus pens during operation — risk of burn injury
- Back up critical chart data via GPIB before the paper roll is exhausted
- Clean the pen assembly and paper path with a soft brush monthly
- Calibrate annually using Yokogawa-certified calibration equipment
