Yokogawa NFAI835-S00

Product Introduction:
The NFAI835-S00 is an 8-channel universal analog input module for the FAST/TOOLS DCS platform by Yokogawa, functionally identical to the NFAI835-S01 but with a different configuration variant. The suffix “-S00” indicates: S = HART communication enabled, 00 = base configuration variant (differs from S01 in firmware/default settings).

  • Form factor: Eurocard (IEEE 299), single-width
  • Connector: Removable spring-clip terminal block (32 terminals)
  • Weight: approximately 0.35 kg
  • Status LEDs: 8 channel indicators + power + HART communication

Working Principle:
Analog signals from 8 channels are multiplexed into a 16-bit A/D converter. The on-board microcontroller applies cold junction compensation (TC), polynomial linearization (TC/RTD), and scaling. Processed digital values are transmitted to the FAST/TOOLS controller via the Vnet/IP backbone. HART communication uses FSK modulation superimposed on the 4–20mA signal at 1200 bps.

Advantages & Highlights:

  • HART 7 compliant enables intelligent field device management
  • Universal input coverage eliminates need for multiple module types
  • 500V AC isolation ensures signal integrity in electrically noisy environments
  • Per-channel diagnostics (burnout, open circuit, short circuit)
  • Firmware variant S00 optimized for specific application profiles (differs from S01 in default parameter sets)

Applicable Industries:
Oil & Gas, Chemical, Petrochemical, Power Generation, Water & Wastewater, Pharmaceutical, Mining

Installation Requirements:

  • Install in FAST/TOOLS I/O station
  • Use shielded twisted-pair cables appropriate for signal type
  • For TC: use extension-grade thermocouple wire; for RTD: use 3-wire or 4-wire configuration
  • Ground shields at control room end only
  • Verify slot address in FAST/TOOLS Engineering Station (FES)
  • Ambient: -10°C to +60°C, humidity: 10–85% RH (no condensation)

Usage Precautions:

  • Maximum input voltage: 50V DC on any channel
  • For 3-wire RTD: match wire colors to terminal markings exactly; mismatch causes up to 2°C error
  • HART requires 250 Ω resistor in the loop (integrated in most FAST/TOOLS I/O stations)
  • Do not hot-swap unless the I/O station explicitly supports it
  • Annual calibration using Yokogawa CA150 or CA750 calibrator recommended
