Yokogawa MV20MV2010-3-4-1

Product Introduction:
The MV20MV2010-3-4-1 is a Coriolis-type mass flowmeter that directly measures mass flow rate, fluid density, and temperature simultaneously. The model code breaks down as: MV20 = Coriolis series, MV2010 = 10 mm nominal bore, “3” = output/communication option, “4” = process connection option, “1” = special configuration. It uses the DPharp (Digital Phase Measurement) sensor technology for high accuracy and stability.

Detailed content

Working Principle:
The flowmeter contains one or two U-shaped (or straight) tubes that oscillate at their natural resonant frequency. When fluid flows through the oscillating tubes, the Coriolis force causes a phase shift (twist) between the inlet and outlet sides of the tube. The phase shift is directly proportional to the mass flow rate. The resonant frequency of the tube changes with fluid density, enabling simultaneous density measurement. Temperature is measured by an integrated RTD (Pt1000).

Structure Features:

  • Single straight tube or dual U-tube design
  • No moving parts — zero wear
  • Integrated Pt1000 RTD for temperature compensation
  • Compact transmitter head with large LCD display
  • Option 3 = specific output configuration
  • Option 4 = specific process connection (flange/thread/sanitary)
  • Option 1 = special material or coating

Advantages:

  • Direct mass flow measurement — independent of density, pressure, temperature, and viscosity
  • Simultaneous density and temperature measurement
  • No straight pipe requirements — can be installed in tight spaces
  • Extremely high accuracy of ±0.1% for mass flow
  • Multi-variable output from a single instrument

Applicable Industries:
Chemical, pharmaceutical, food and beverage, oil and gas custody transfer, petroleum refining, semiconductor, paint and coating, adhesive manufacturing

Installation Requirements:

  • Install with process connection pointing upward for liquid services (to ensure full tube filling)
  • For gas services, install with process connection pointing upward or horizontal
  • Use flexible connectors to prevent stress on the flow tubes
  • Ensure no external vibration is transmitted to the flowmeter body
  • Ground the flowmeter for EMI protection

Usage Notes:

  • Zero calibration must be performed with the tube completely filled with the process fluid (no air bubbles)
  • Density measurement requires the tube to be fully filled — avoid installing at high points in gas lines
  • For custody transfer applications, use the dedicated density output for volume-to-mass conversion
  • Periodically verify zero point — Coriolis meters can drift over time
  • Do not exceed rated pressure — tube deformation will cause permanent accuracy loss
