Functional Features:

  • 32 independent relay output channels with SPDT (Form C) contact configuration
  • Full dual-redundant architecture — both primary and backup modules operate simultaneously; automatic switchover occurs within <50ms upon primary failure
  • Each channel supports individually configurable ON/OFF status via F3 engineering software (CENTUM VP System View / CS 3000)
  • Channel-level diagnostics — open circuit detection, short circuit detection, contact weld detection
  • Group output function — supports batch ON/OFF control for up to 32 channels simultaneously
  • Fail-safe output setting — user-definable output state upon module failure or communication loss (HOLD / OFF / ON)
  • Hot-swap capable — module replacement without system shutdown

Structural Features:

  • Front-facing terminal block with spring-clamp screw terminals for field wiring
  • LED status indicators per channel (green = ON, red = fault)
  • Redundancy status LED (green = synchronized, red = fault)
  • F3 bus connector at rear for carrier backplane connection
  • Galvanic isolation between output channels and internal logic circuitry
  • Conformal-coated PCB for enhanced environmental resistance

Working Principle:

The module receives digital output commands from the F3 control engine via the high-speed F3 Bus. The internal processor decodes the command and energizes the corresponding electromagnetic relay coil. The relay contacts switch the external field load circuit. In redundant mode, a second identical module mirrors all output states in real time. The F3 I/O carrier continuously monitors both modules; upon detection of a primary module fault, the carrier seamlessly transfers all output control to the backup module with zero process interruption.

Advantages & Highlights:

  • High channel density — 32 points in a single module saves cabinet space
  • True dual redundancy with automatic failover ensures 99.999% availability
  • Relay output provides galvanic isolation from the control system — ideal for high-voltage or noisy field environments
  • Fast response time (≤10ms) suitable for solenoid valve and motor starter control
  • Comprehensive diagnostics reduce unplanned downtime
  • Hot-swap capability enables online maintenance

Applicable Industries:

  • Oil & Gas — refinery process control, pipeline SCADA
  • Chemical & Petrochemical — batch reactor control, utility systems
  • Power Generation — boiler control, turbine auxiliary systems
  • Water & Wastewater — pump station control, valve actuation
  • Pharmaceutical — batch process control
  • Pulp & Paper — machine control systems

Installation Requirements:

  • Install in F3 I/O carrier (F3AIO/F3DIO) with proper slot allocation
  • Maintain minimum 10mm clearance above and below module for airflow
  • Field wiring to screw-clamp terminal block — use 0.5 to 2.5mm² (AWG 20–14) stranded copper wire
  • Ensure proper grounding of module chassis to control system ground bus
  • Verify redundant pair configuration in CS 3000 engineering software before commissioning

Usage Precautions:

  • Do not exceed rated load of 2A @ 250V AC per channel — overloading causes contact welding and premature failure
  • Do not apply voltage to relay contacts exceeding 250V AC / 30V DC
  • For inductive loads (solenoid valves, relays), install suppression diodes or RC snubber circuits across the load to prevent back-EMF damage
  • Perform periodic contact resistance check during scheduled maintenance
  • Replace module only with identical F3YD32-1A to maintain redundancy integrity
