YOKOGAWA E204DN-AB1-LS A/FF1/FN1

Product Introduction:
The E204DN-AB1-LS A/FF1/FN1 is a multivariable smart transmitter from Yokogawa’s EJX series. This model simultaneously measures differential pressure, static pressure, and process temperature from a single process connection. The model code decodes as: E204DN = Multivariable type, AB1 = Output/configuration code, LS = Local display with backlight, A = HART 7 / FF1 = Flange-Flange process connection (DIN), FN1 = Drain/vent fitting. The wetted parts are constructed from Hastelloy C-276 for maximum corrosion resistance.

Working Principle:
The transmitter uses a resonant silicon sensor for differential pressure and static pressure measurement. The silicon diaphragm vibrates at its natural resonant frequency (~100 kHz), which shifts proportionally to applied pressure. A capacitive pick-off detects the frequency shift and converts it to a digital pressure value. The integrated Pt1000 RTD measures process temperature via 4-wire resistance measurement. The microprocessor fuses all 3 variables using proprietary algorithms to compensate for temperature effects on DP and SP readings. The result is transmitted as 4–20 mA + HART digital signal.

Key Advantages:

  • Hastelloy C-276 wetted parts — handles the most aggressive chemical processes (HCl, H2SO4, acetic acid, chlorides)
  • 3-variable measurement from single connection — reduces process penetrations by 66%
  • SIL 2 / SIL 3 capable — suitable for safety-critical applications
  • DIN flange connection (FF1) — standard European piping compatibility

Applicable Industries:

  • Chlor-alkali plants (chlorine gas, caustic soda)
  • Sulfuric acid production
  • Pharmaceutical reactor monitoring (aggressive solvents)
  • Offshore oil and gas (seawater injection)
  • Pulp and paper digester monitoring

Installation Requirements:

  • Install vertical or inclined (process connection at bottom) for liquid service
  • For gas service, install process connection at top or side with vent at top
  • Use DN50 PN40 DIN flanges with spiral wound gasket (graphite + 316L)
  • Connect drain/vent (FN1) to closed collection system for hazardous fluids
  • Bond the transmitter housing to plant ground (impedance < 1 Ω)

Usage Precautions:

  • Do not exceed 16 MPa static pressure — will permanently deform the silicon sensor
  • Do not apply pressure to the drain/vent (FN1) fitting when process is pressurized
  • Perform zero calibration with both process connections at equal pressure (for DP)
  • Replace diaphragm seals every 5 years in corrosive service (even with Hastelloy C-276)
  • Verify HART communication address is unique on the loop before commissioning
