Yokogawa DR1A-100G-1D4A 4G2-030-0202/CE

Product Introduction:
The DR1A-100G-1D4A 4G2-030-0202/CE is a 100 mm full-scale hybrid recorder from Yokogawa’s DR series. It combines a traditional analog chart drive with a digital LCD display for simultaneous paper-based trend recording and digital readout. The unit accepts 1 analog input channel and provides 4 alarm relay outputs. The 4G2 option indicates a 4-alarm, 2-display configuration. The suffix 030-0202/CE specifies the communication and configuration variant with CE marking for European compliance.

  • Cutout Size138 mm × 138 mm
  • Weight: Approximately 3.5 kg (including chart drive mechanism)
  • Chart Drive: Synchronous motor with pen carriage (100 mm travel)

Operating Principle:
The input signal (voltage, current, thermocouple, or RTD) is conditioned by an analog front-end circuit that linearizes and scales the signal to 0–100% of full scale. The conditioned signal drives two outputs simultaneously: (1) the pen servo motor moves the pen across the 100 mm chart paper at the selected speed (20/40/80/120 mm/h), creating a continuous analog trend; (2) the A/D converter digitizes the signal and displays it on the LCD as a numeric value and bar graph. When the measured value crosses any of the 4 alarm setpoints, the corresponding SPDT relay changes state (energizes or de-energizes), signaling the alarm condition to external devices (horns, lights, DCS inputs). The RS-485 Modbus RTU interface allows a SCADA or DCS to poll the current value and alarm status remotely.

Advantages & Highlights:

  • Dual Recording: Both paper chart (for regulatory compliance and archival) and digital display (for real-time monitoring) — the best of both worlds
  • Wide Input Flexibility: Accepts all major sensor types (TC, RTD, mA, mV) on a single channel
  • 4 Alarms: Sufficient for most single-loop applications (e.g., tank level, temperature control)
  • CE Compliant: Fully certified for European market installation

Applicable Industries:

  • Power Generation (Boiler/Turbine Monitoring)
  • Chemical Plants (Single-Loop Control)
  • Water & Wastewater (Pump Station Monitoring)
  • Oil & Gas (Wellhead Monitoring)
  • Food & Beverage (Batch Process Recording)
  • HVAC (Building Temperature/Humidity Logging)

Installation Requirements:

  • Cut a 138 mm × 138 mm panel opening; install with gasket seal
  • Connect input using shielded twisted-pair cable; ground shield at recorder end only
  • Provide 100–240 V AC, 50/60 Hz power with ≤ 10% voltage fluctuation
  • For RS-485 communication, use shielded twisted-pair cable (max 1200 m at 9600 bps)
  • Load 100 mm chart paper roll before energizing — perform a pen zero calibration

Usage Precautions:

  • Use only Yokogawa-specified chart paper (100 mm width, 20 m roll) — incompatible paper will jam the mechanism
  • Replace the ballpoint pen when ink runs out — do not use fountain pen ink (will clog)
  • Perform pen zero calibration after every paper roll change
  • Do not expose the recorder to ambient temperatures above +50 °C — the synchronous motor may malfunction
  • The pen servo motor draws high inrush current at startup — use a dedicated circuit breaker (2 A)
