YOKOGAWA C29H27110H
Product Introduction:
The C29H27110H is a vortex-type flowmeter from Yokogawa’s YEWFLO series. The model code breakdown is: C29 = YEWFLO C29 series / H = High specification / 27 = DN100 (4-inch) flange size / 110 = Flange rating / H = Specific material/output configuration. This flowmeter measures the volumetric flow rate of liquids, gases, and steam using the von Kármán vortex street principle. It features a flange-mounted design with no moving parts, providing high reliability and low maintenance.

- No moving parts — zero maintenance, high reliability
- Wide turndown ratio (1:50) — single meter covers wide flow range
- HART 7 communication — remote configuration, diagnostics, and calibration
- Built-in temperature sensor (Pt100) — for gas/steam density compensation
- Built-in pressure sensor (optional) — for steam mass flow calculation
- Self-diagnostics — sensor check, signal check, zero-point check
- Low flow cutoff — configurable low flow alarm (indicates no flow or pipe empty)
Working Principle:
A bluff body (shedder bar) is placed in the flow stream. As fluid passes the bluff body, alternating vortices (von Kármán vortex street) are shed downstream. The frequency of vortex shedding is directly proportional to the fluid velocity. A piezoelectric sensor embedded in the bluff body detects the pressure fluctuations caused by the vortices. The flow rate is calculated as: Q = f × K, where f = vortex frequency (Hz) and K = K-factor (calibration constant, pulses per unit volume).
Structural Features:
- Flow Tube Material: Carbon Steel (CS) — STPT410 (JIS) / A106 Gr.B (ASTM)
- Bluff Body Material: SUS316L stainless steel (welded into CS flow tube)
- Sensor: Piezoelectric ceramic element (SUS316L housing)
- Transmitter Housing: Aluminum die-cast with epoxy coating (IP67)
- Process Connection: JIS 10K flange (DN100, RF face)
- Cable Entry: PG13.5 cable gland (IP67 rated)
Advantages:
- No moving parts — extremely high MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures)
- Wide flow range — single meter replaces multiple orifice plates
- Low pressure drop — energy-efficient compared to orifice plates
- HART communication — enables smart device integration
- Flange-mounted — easy installation in existing pipework (no welding required)
Applicable Industries:
- Oil & Gas — Crude oil, natural gas, steam flow measurement
- Chemical & Petrochemical — Process liquid and steam flow
- Power Generation — Boiler feedwater, steam flow, cooling water
- Pulp & Paper — Steam and water flow in process lines
- Food & Beverage — Clean-in-place (CIP) liquid flow (SUS316L variant)
Installation Requirements:
- Upstream straight pipe: Minimum 15D (D = pipe diameter) — 1500 mm for DN100
- Downstream straight pipe: Minimum 5D — 500 mm for DN100
- Do not install near pumps, valves, or elbows — causes flow profile distortion
- Install in horizontal or vertical pipe (vertical: flow upward preferred)
- For steam: Always install with condensate pot below the meter (to prevent water hammer)
- Flange bolting: Use torque wrench, cross-pattern tightening, per JIS/ASME specification
- Cable routing: Use shielded cable, grounded at one end only (transmitter end)
Precautions:
- Do not install in pipes with pulsating flow (reciprocating pumps) — will cause measurement error
- Do not exceed rated pressure (2.5 MPa for 10K flange) — will damage flanges
- Do not operate at temperatures exceeding +250 °C — will damage piezoelectric sensor
- Perform zero-point calibration after installation (pipe may be filled with static fluid)
- For low-conductivity fluids (pure water, hydrocarbons) — verify minimum conductivity (≥ 5 μS/cm)
- Clean the bluff body and sensor annually in dirty service applications
- Use Yokogawa-approved flange gaskets — incorrect gasket will cause leakage and measurement error
