Yokogawa AFV30D-S41151

Full Model Number: AFV30D-S41151

Product Introduction:
The AFV30D-S41151 is a 3-way ball valve manufactured by Yokogawa, designed for on/off control and flow diversion applications in process piping systems. It features a pneumatic actuator for reliable automation control.

Detailed content

Technical Specifications:

  • Nominal Pipe Size: 30 mm (1.2 inches, DN30)
  • Valve Type: 3-way L-port or T-port ball valve
  • Actuator Type: Pneumatic single-acting (spring return) or double-acting (S41151 configuration)
  • Operating Pressure: Up to 2.1 MPa (depending on temperature and material)
  • Operating Temperature Range: -29°C to +200°C (EPDM seal); -40°C to +250°C (PTFE seal)
  • Cv Value: Approximately 10 (varies by port configuration)
  • Leakage Rate: ANSI/FCI 70-2 Class IV (bubble-tight shutoff)
  • Air Supply Pressure: 0.14 to 0.7 MPa (20 to 100 psi)
  • Action: Fail-close or fail-open (selectable via actuator configuration)

Material Composition:

  • Valve Body: SUS316 stainless steel (cast or forged)
  • Ball: SUS316 stainless steel with PTFE seat
  • Stem: SUS316 stainless steel
  • Packing: PTFE with graphite filler
  • Seat: PTFE (RPTFE) or PPL (polyphenylene sulfide) depending on configuration
  • Actuator Housing: Aluminum alloy (die-cast)

Structural Features:

  • Flanged end connections: JIS 10K/16K/20K, ANSI 150, DIN PN16
  • Direct mounting to pneumatic actuator (ISO 5211 compliant)
  • Blow-out proof stem design
  • Anti-static device: spring-loaded stem to body contact

Working Principle:
90° rotation of the ball diverts or combines flow between three ports. In L-port configuration, flow is diverted between two ports with the third blocked. In T-port configuration, flow from one port is split to two outlets or combined from two inlets. The pneumatic actuator receives a 4–20 mA or 3–15 psi signal to rotate the ball to the open or closed position. Spring return provides fail-safe operation.

Advantages & Highlights:

  • Quarter-turn operation for fast response (typically < 5 seconds full stroke)
  • Bubble-tight shutoff with zero leakage (Class IV)
  • Compact design with direct actuator mounting
  • Wide material compatibility for aggressive process fluids

Applicable Industries:

  • HVAC systems (heating, ventilation, air conditioning)
  • Chemical process plants
  • Oil and gas pipelines
  • Food and pharmaceutical processing
  • Steam and hot water distribution

Installation Requirements:

  • Install with actuator in vertical upward position (for standard double-acting actuators)
  • Provide clean, dry air supply with a filter-regulator-lubricator (FRL) unit
  • Mount positioner on actuator per ISA mounting pad (ISO 5211)
  • Ensure adequate space for actuator stroke and manual override operation

Usage Precautions:

  • Do not exceed the maximum allowable pressure at the given temperature (refer to pressure-temperature chart)
  • Lubricate stem packing periodically if using non-lubricated PTFE packing
  • Do not use the valve for throttling service — it is designed for on/off control only
  • Verify actuator action (fail-close vs. fail-open) matches the safety requirement of the process
