Measurement Principle:
The flowmeter generates a magnetic field across the flow tube using excitation coils. As the conductive fluid passes through this magnetic field, an electromotive force (EMF) is induced proportional to the average flow velocity. Electrodes mounted flush with the tube liner detect this voltage, which is directly proportional to the volumetric flow rate.

Installation Requirements:

  • Install in full-pipe conditions only — the tube must be completely filled with liquid at all times
  • Maintain minimum 5D upstream and 3D downstream straight pipe runs (D = pipe diameter)
  • Ensure proper grounding of the flowmeter and piping system
  • Avoid installation near strong electromagnetic interference sources (large motors, VFDs, welders)
  • Use shielded cable for signal wiring; ground the shield at one end only
  • Orient electrodes horizontally for sanitary applications to prevent air bubble accumulation

Usage Precautions:

  • Never run the flowmeter with an empty tube — this will damage the liner and electrodes
  • Verify fluid conductivity exceeds 5 μS/cm before commissioning
  • Perform zero calibration with the pipe full of stationary process fluid
  • Clean electrodes regularly in dirty or coating-prone fluids
  • Do not exceed the maximum rated process pressure or temperature for the selected liner material
  • Ensure flange gaskets do not protrude into the flow stream
