Texas Instruments TPD4E002

Product Name: TPD4E002 Quad Low-Capacitance ESD Suppression Array
Introduction: This monolithic transient-voltage-suppressor array protects up to four lines against ESD and surge transients. It is intended for computers, printers, communication devices, cellular phones and video equipment.

Detailed content

Technical Specifications:
  • Channels: 4 unidirectional suppression diodes
  • I/O breakdown voltage: 6.1 V minimum
  • I/O capacitance: 11 pF typical
  • Leakage current: less than 100 nA
  • Peak pulse current, 8/20 µs: 2.5 A
  • IEC 61000-4-2 contact discharge: ±15 kV
  • IEC 61000-4-5 surge protection supported
  • Human Body Model: ±15 kV
  • Package: SOT-5, 1.60 mm x 1.20 mm typical
  • PCB footprint: less than 2.6 mm²
Material Composition: Silicon TVS diodes, SOT molded body, lead-frame contacts with plating suitable for reflow.
Structural Features: Four matched unidirectional channels, no VDD pin required, very small outline for high-density boards, low crosstalk through monolithic design.
Working Principle: Each protected line connects to a suppression diode that conducts when transient voltage exceeds the breakdown threshold. Energy is clamped and diverted to ground, keeping downstream components within safe voltage limits.
Application Scenarios: Computer peripheral ports, printers, cellular handsets, communication transceivers, video interfaces, high-density digital boards.
Installation Requirements: Route protected signals directly into the array before internal circuitry, connect the ground reference with minimal inductance, follow SOT-5 land pattern, and keep ESD source path as short as possible.
Usage Precautions: Do not exceed channel breakdown or peak pulse ratings, verify polarity because the array is unidirectional, avoid PCB contamination that can raise leakage, and confirm package orientation before soldering.
