NI CDAQ-9174

Product Name
National Instruments cDAQ-9174 four-slot USB CompactDAQ chassis.
Product Introduction
cDAQ-9174 is a USB 2.0 data-acquisition chassis that accepts four C Series I/O modules. It provides timing, triggering, counter, analog, digital, and bus-power management for measurement systems in laboratory and industrial environments.

Detailed content

Technical Specifications
Chassis power input is 9 to 30 VDC through a 2-position 3.5 mm screw terminal, maximum 15 W. USB interface is USB 2.0 Hi-Speed. Seven high-performance data streams are supported: analog input, analog output, digital input, digital output, counter input, counter output, and NI-XNET where supported by modules. Analog input FIFO is 127 samples per slot. Timing resolution is 12.5 ns. Timing accuracy is 50 ppm. Four 32-bit counters operate with 80 MHz, 20 MHz, and 100 kHz base clocks.
Function Features
Multiple independent timing engines, hardware-timed analog and digital tasks, trigger support for start, reference, and pause conditions, PFI routing, onboard analog output regeneration, and full configuration through NI-DAQmx and Measurement & Automation Explorer.
Application Scenarios
Sensor measurement, laboratory automation, machine monitoring, prototype testing, industrial data logging, and mixed analog, digital, and counter acquisition using C Series modules.
Performance Parameters
Analog output onboard regeneration supports 16 waveforms and 8191-sample FIFO. Counter outputs cover 0 to 20 MHz. Digital sample clock supports 0 to 10 MHz streaming. Actual sample rates are determined by installed C Series modules.
Material Composition
Aluminum or industrial polymer chassis housing with shielded USB and power connectors. Internal PCBs meet IEC 61010 safety design and industrial EMC requirements.
Structure Features
Four C Series slots, one USB Hi-Speed port, one external power terminal, PFI timing connectors, and integrated mounting points. Unloaded dimensions are 159.5 mm x 88.1 mm x 58.9 mm. Unloaded weight is approximately 574 g.
Working Principle
The chassis supplies backplane power, clock, and timing resources to each C Series module. The USB host configures acquisition tasks in NI-DAQmx. Module data is packetized and transferred over USB; counters, analog outputs, and triggered acquisitions are managed by the chassis timing controllers.
Installation Requirements
Use a National Electrical Code Class 2 power source. Panel-mount the chassis for specified shock and vibration performance. Use an externally powered USB hub if a hub is required. Affix ferrules to power terminal conductors.
Usage Notes
Slot I/O power-on state depends on the installed C Series module. Sleep mode for C Series modules is not supported. Maintain USB cable locking where vibration exists. Operate indoors within -20 to 55°C unless module ratings allow otherwise.
