Working Principle: The DCS CPU sends digital setpoints over the backplane bus. The module microcontroller buffers the commands and uses cold-compensated digital-to-analog converters to generate reference voltages. Linear current amplifiers produce regulated 4–20 mA loops. HART data is modulated onto the current loop for remote configuration and diagnostics. Protection circuits disable faulty channels during short-circuit or overload events.
Installation Requirements: Install in the assigned D201 analog output rack position. Supply 24 VDC backplane power. Connect field loops to the front terminal block and set load resistance below 750 ohms. Enable HART only on channels wired to HART-capable positioners.
Usage Precautions: Never bypass per-channel protection fuses or solid-state limiters. Validate fail-safe mode before automatic control handover. Perform periodic LED and loop-current checks in subzero cabinets. Remove power before replacing terminal blocks unless hot-swap is authorized for the rack type.
