Working Principle
The single-phase supply energizes the run winding and the permanent split capacitor feeds the auxiliary winding with phase-shifted current. The rotating magnetic field drives the rotor at synchronous-related speed reduced by slip. In air-over duty, ventilation air from the connected blower removes heat from the enclosed frame so the motor sustains continuous rated load.
Installation Requirements
Verify the complete nameplate suffix before wiring; 460 V, 230/460 V and 208/230 V versions are not interchangeable without supply and protection review.
Provide continuous airflow over the frame for totally enclosed air-over ratings.
Use 48-frame mounting studs, brackets or belly band specified for the replacement model.
Confirm shaft diameter, shaft length and rotation direction against the blower wheel.
Ground the motor according to the equipment electrical drawing.
Usage Notes
Do not operate without forced air in air-over enclosures.
Replace thermal protection only with the same trip rating.
Check bearing condition and shaft runout before returning the motor to service.
Match capacitor value to the nameplate when a separate run capacitor is required.
