EMERSON 1C31122G02
Product Name
Emerson 1C31122G02 Ovation 16-Channel Digital Output Module
Product Overview
The 1C31122G02 is a 16-channel digital output module for the Emerson Ovation distributed control system. It converts controller output commands into discrete low-side switched signals for field-side loads such as solenoid valves, motor starter coils, alarms and indicators. The module installs directly into an Ovation I/O rack and communicates with the controller across the Ovation I/O bus.

Working Principle
The controller writes the required output state to the module through the Ovation backplane. The module’s sinking drivers then connect each output channel to its common return path. Loss of backplane communication causes the outputs to transition to a pre-configured fail-safe state, either de-energised or held, depending on system configuration.
Application Scenarios
Power-generation auxiliary systems: boiler feed pumps, condensate pumps, circulating water pumps and cooling systems
Motor control centre interfacing for remote start/stop commands
Solenoid valves in chemical, oil and gas, and pharmaceutical processes
Pneumatic and hydraulic directional control valves
Process isolation valves
Alarm annunciators, audible horns and visual alarm towers
Conveyor motors, diverter gates and pneumatic actuators
Installation Requirements
Seat the module in the designated Ovation I/O rack slot and lock the retaining latches
Verify full engagement of the backplane connector
Bond the cabinet chassis to system earth ground
Reference the output common to the return path of the field-load supply
Use twisted-pair, shielded cabling where required by the installation
Route output wiring away from high-voltage AC conductors
Verify loop continuity and polarity before energising
Run an output test sequence from the Ovation engineering workstation
Usage Notes
Match external fusing and wire sizing to the 2 A per-channel and 16 A total ratings
Faulted channels are automatically disabled while healthy channels remain operational
The output common must be referenced correctly to prevent ground-potential differences
Place control logic in a safe state before extracting or inserting the module
Configuration and diagnostics are performed through Ovation Developer Studio
