CMT 288SP-OB-25-D
Product Name
CMT 288 Series cylindrical inductive proximity sensor, 25 mm sensing, PNP normally open.
Product Introduction
288SP-OB-25-D is an M18 threaded inductive proximity switch for non-contact detection of ferrous and other metallic targets. It is built for conveyor, packaging, stamping, and assembly lines where high switching frequency and stable 25 mm detection are required.

Material Composition and Structure
Threaded M18 barrel in nickel-plated brass or 303 stainless steel, sealed sensing face, internal oscillator and evaluation PCB, PNP output stage, and PUR-jacketed cable. The IP67 seal includes O-rings and potted electronics suitable for water spray, oil mist, and dust exposure within rated temperature.
Working Principle
The oscillator creates an alternating magnetic field at the sensing face. A metallic target entering the field induces eddy currents that reduce oscillation amplitude. The evaluation circuit detects this change and switches the PNP output on or off according to the normally-open configuration.
Installation Requirements
For flush mounting, seat the sensing face flush with the metal mounting surface and use non-interfering bracket material if shielding is specified. For non-flush mounting, keep the full 25 mm free distance from the target and maintain manufacturer clearance from adjacent metal. Separate multiple inductive sensors sufficiently to avoid mutual oscillation interference. Wire brown to 10–30 VDC positive, blue to negative, and black to the load input.
Usage Notes
Verify target material and size because non-ferrous metals reduce effective sensing distance. Do not exceed 200 mA load or 30 VDC supply. Keep cable bends within PUR rating and avoid sharp strain at the gland. Check LED status periodically; repeated nuisance switching may indicate misalignment, adjacent metal interference, or contaminated target surface.
