B&R X20PD0012
Product Introduction:
The B&R X20PD0012 is a power distribution module for the B&R X20 compact I/O system. It is the extended-capacity variant of the X20PD0011, providing higher total output current for X20 segments with a larger number of modules or higher-power modules (e.g., analog outputs, communication modules). It distributes 24 VDC power from a single input to all connected X20 modules via the backplane bus with enhanced overcurrent protection.

- Electronic overcurrent protection — adjustable per channel group (0.5 A to 2 A)
- Short-circuit protection with auto-recovery
- Power OK / Fault LED indicators
- Backplane bus power distribution to all X20 modules
- DIN rail mountable (35 mm TS 35)
Structural Features:
- Housing: Polycarbonate (PC) + glass fiber (GF)
- Screw terminals (2.5 mm² max wire) on top for 24 VDC input
- Backplane connector on bottom
- LEDs: Power (green), Fault (red), Channel group status (yellow)
Working Principle:
The X20PD0012 receives 24 VDC power via the top screw terminals. Internal power conditioning and distribution circuitry delivers regulated 24 VDC to the X20 backplane bus. Each X20 module draws current from the bus. The electronic fuse on each channel group monitors current. If a group exceeds its threshold, it is automatically disconnected and attempts recovery after 100 ms. A hard short circuit triggers immediate shutdown of the entire module.
Advantages & Highlights:
- 16 A capacity — supports large X20 configurations (30+ modules)
- Higher per-group current (2 A) — accommodates analog output modules and communication modules
- Electronic fuse with auto-recovery — zero maintenance
- Same compact form factor as standard X20 modules (25 × 90 × 75 mm)
- Single power entry point — clean, organized cabling
Applicable Industries:
- Large-scale automation systems
- Process control plants
- Automotive production lines
- Semiconductor manufacturing
- Power distribution systems
- Oil & gas facilities
Installation Requirements:
- 35 mm DIN rail (EN 60715)
- 24 VDC power supply rated for minimum 16 A + 20 % margin (≥ 19.2 A)
- Wire: 2.5 mm² max to screw terminals
- Screw torque: 0.5 Nm
- Install at the start of the X20 segment
Usage Precautions:
- Do not exceed 16 A total output current — this will trigger protection shutdown
- Power supply must be rated for at least 19.2 A (120 % of max load)
- Do not connect power to the backplane connector — use screw terminals exclusively
- Configure electronic fuse thresholds in Automation Studio to match your module configuration
- Ensure adequate ventilation — the module dissipates heat proportional to current; maintain ≥ 10 mm clearance above and below
