Functional Features
The motor delivers fast acceleration through low inertia and short electrical time constant. The resolver provides robust position and speed feedback under high vibration and contaminated environments. The holding brake locks the shaft when 24 VDC is removed, which protects vertical loads during power loss. The angled Speedtec connector simplifies cabinet wiring and allows connector orientation adjustment.
Application Scenarios
Packaging machines, vertical lift axes, gantry Z axes, laboratory hoists, medical lift tables, CNC auxiliary axes, semiconductor handling equipment, and high-speed pick-and-place systems.
Material And Structure
The stator uses laminated electrical steel with optimized windings. The rotor uses rare-earth permanent magnets. The brake section contains a zinc-plated spring set, friction disc, and 24 VDC solenoid coil housed in an extended rear enclosure. The connector housing uses molded industrial polymer with metal coupling.
Working Principle
The drive produces three-phase current in the stator windings. The permanent-magnet rotor follows the rotating magnetic field and produces torque proportional to current. The resolver measures rotor angle and speed, and the controller closes the position loop. The brake spring presses the friction disc when de-energized; applying 24 VDC energizes the solenoid and releases the disc.
Installation Requirements
Mount the motor on a flat mating surface with the specified centering diameter and flange bolt pattern. Use B&R-recommended motor cables with 0.75 mm² cross-section for the stated drive class. Provide a separate fused 24 VDC supply for the brake. Connect the resolver and power connector before energizing the drive. Pair the motor with ACOPOS 8V, ACOPOSmulti 8BVI, or ACOPOS P3 8EI controllers as specified by B&R selection data.
Usage Precautions
Do not use the holding brake for repeated dynamic deceleration or emergency stopping. Verify brake release timing in the controller before vertical movement. Do not exceed 9000 rpm. Keep the resolver cable separated from power cables where required for EMC. Perform brake wear inspection in frequent-hold applications.
