Working Principle:
Field devices (switches, sensors) provide 24 V DC or 0 V signals to the input terminals. The input stage conditions the signal through an optocoupler that provides galvanic isolation. A Schmitt trigger ensures clean digital signal levels. The debounce filter eliminates contact bounce from mechanical switches. The digital state is read by the controller via the X20 bus. Channel isolation is achieved via individual optocouplers per channel.

Advantages & Highlights:

  • 16 channels in a compact form factor
  • Flexible PNP/NPN configuration per channel group — fits all sensor types
  • Adjustable input filter eliminates false triggering from mechanical contacts
  • 500 V DC isolation provides excellent noise immunity
  • LED indicators allow immediate visual diagnosis

Applicable Industries:

  • Machine tool control
  • Press and stamping machine control
  • Conveyor and sorting systems
  • Packaging machine safety circuits
  • General discrete signal acquisition in any automation system

Installation Requirements:

  • Mount on DIN rail (TS 35 x 7.5 or TS 35 x 15)
  • Connect to X20 base module or X20 system bus
  • Wire field devices to terminal blocks (observe PNP or NPN wiring based on configuration)
  • For PNP sensors: connect sensor output to input terminal, sensor 0 V to common 0 V
  • For NPN sensors: connect sensor output to input terminal, sensor +24 V to common +24 V
  • Use shielded cables in electrically noisy environments

Usage Precautions:

  • Do not apply voltage exceeding 30 V DC to any input terminal
  • Configure PNP/NPN mode in software to match actual field wiring
  • Set debounce time appropriately: shorter for electronic sensors, longer for mechanical switches
  • Do not leave input terminals floating — always connect to a defined voltage level
