B&R 5ACPCI

Product Name
B&R 5ACPCI Half-Size PCI Fieldbus Communication Module
Product Overview
The 5ACPCI series provides half-size PCI interface cards for B&R Automation PC, B&R Panel PC and standard desktop PCs. The cards use Hilscher netX controllers and dual-port memory to exchange I/O data between the host computer and industrial fieldbus networks. Common shipped variants include DeviceNet master, CANopen master and CANopen slave configurations.

Working Principle
The host PC addresses the card through the PCI bus. The netX controller manages the fieldbus protocol stack. I/O data is placed in the 64 kB dual-port memory so the PLC runtime and field devices exchange cyclic and acyclic data without polling overhead. Field signals are converted by the transceiver to CAN/DeviceNet levels and transmitted on the external bus.
Installation Requirements
Power down the PC before inserting the card.
Seat the card fully in a compatible standard PCI half-size slot.
Set the rotary slot number to match the Automation Studio hardware configuration.
Install the correct 5ACPCI firmware through B&R Automation Runtime or hardware upgrade package.
Terminate DeviceNet/CANopen cables with 120 Ω resistors at both bus ends.
Usage Notes
Do not install or remove the card under power.
Confirm PCI slot availability; the card is not compatible with PCI Express slots.
Keep cabinet ambient temperature within 0 to 55°C.
Verify firmware, slot number and fieldbus baud rate before commissioning.
