B&R 3EX150.60-1
Product Introduction
This module connects a System 2005 CPU to remote I/O stations over an electrically isolated RS485 bus. It polls slave stations, transfers I/O data and provides diagnostic status for distributed machine control.
Interface Type
Isolated RS485, 9-pin DSUB female socket.
Detailed content
Baud Rates
100 kbit/s, 181 kbit/s, 500 kbit/s, 1000 kbit/s, 2000 kbit/s.
Cable Distance
1200 m at 100 kbit/s, 1000 m at 181 kbit/s, 400 m at 500 kbit/s, 200 m at 1000 kbit/s, 100 m at 2000 kbit/s.
Network Topology
Master-slave RS485 bus, maximum 31 slaves without repeater, up to 8 remote I/O masters in the system.
Bus Media
Shielded twisted-pair cable with external termination resistors.
Power Consumption
Maximum 5.5 W from 5 VDC backplane.
Status Indicators
RUN, ERROR, Tx, Rx LEDs.
Configuration Elements
Front door DIP switches for station address and bus parameters.
Housing Material
System 2005 industrial module body with FR4 PCB, metal/plastic front door and isolated RS485 transceiver.
Mechanical Structure
Single-width 2005 module, backplane bus connector, front DIP switch compartment, 9-pin DSUB RS485 port, status LED window.
Working Principle
The CPU writes and reads I/O images through the 2005 backplane. The EX150 serializes the I/O image into RS485 frames, polls each configured slave, receives slave responses and updates the central I/O map. Galvanic isolation separates the bus side from the logic side.
Operating Temperature
0 to 60 °C.
Installation Requirements
Insert the module into the designated 2005 backplane slot. Set the DIP station address before communication start. Use shielded twisted-pair RS485 cable. Install termination resistors at both bus ends. Connect the cable shield to a single earth point.
Usage Precautions
Never operate the RS485 bus without proper termination. Respect the selected baud-rate distance limit. Verify isolation before connecting external slaves. Avoid mixing different station addresses on the same bus segment.
