Atlas Copco TC54P

Model Series: TC-54 Series (Peak Torque Grade)

Product Overview:
The TC54P is a standalone peak torque controller with a 1–54 Nm range. It is the higher-torque counterpart to the TC52P, targeting applications requiring more fastening force while maintaining the simplicity of peak-torque-only control.

Detailed content

Technical Specifications:

  • Torque Range: 0.5 – 54 Nm
  • Torque Accuracy: ±3% of reading
  • Repeatability: ±1% of reading
  • Control Mode: Peak Torque (P)
  • Power Supply: 24 V DC
  • Communication: I/O (2 in, 2 out), RS-232 optional
  • Operating Temperature: 0°C to +45°C
  • Protection Rating: IP54

Functional Features:

  • Single peak torque setpoint with adjustable window
  • Pass/Fail relay output
  • LED status (green/red/yellow)
  • Peak hold for post-cycle verification
  • Buzzer on completion
  • Teach-in via front-panel button

Structural Characteristics:

  • Housing: PA66-GF30, 130 x 85 x 48 mm
  • 4-digit LED display
  • 3 membrane buttons
  • M12 8-pin screwdriver connector
  • DIN rail clip included

Material Composition:

  • Housing: PA66-GF30 (glass-fiber reinforced polyamide)
  • PCB: FR-4 with conformal coating
  • Connectors: PBT, gold-plated pins

Working Principle:
The controller samples torque from the screwdriver transducer in real time. When the torque value reaches the programmed peak threshold, the controller cuts motor power within 10 ms. The relay output changes state to signal pass or fail to the host system.

Key Advantages:

  • 54 Nm range covers M8 bolt applications
  • Simpler and more cost-effective than angle-monitoring variants
  • Robust construction for continuous 24/7 operation
  • Fast teach-in setup

Applicable Industries:
Furniture and cabinet assembly, Electrical enclosure, General machinery, Appliance manufacturing

Installation Requirements:

  • DIN rail or panel mount (bracket supplied)
  • 24 V DC, minimum 2 A
  • M12 8-pin cable to screwdriver (max. 3 m)
  • Maintain 50 mm clearance from heat sources

Usage Precautions:

  • Do not exceed 54 Nm — will cause permanent sensor damage
  • Calibrate torque annually
  • Use only with Atlas Copco electric screwdrivers (compatible encoder protocol)
  • Replace 2 A fuse in power supply if blown — do not bypass fuse
