Atlas Copco TC52P-M

Product Introduction:
The TC52P-M is the premium variant of the TC52 frame, featuring a permanent magnet variable speed drive (VSD/PM motor). The “M” suffix indicates the unit is supplied with a built-in heatless regenerative desiccant air dryer. This is an all-in-one compressed air package: compressor + dryer in a single cabinet. The VSD motor adjusts speed to match real-time air demand, reducing energy consumption by up to 35% compared to fixed-speed models.

Material Composition:

  • Rotor Housing: Cast iron GG25
  • Rotors: Atomized alloy steel, 50 HRC
  • PM Motor: Rare-earth permanent magnets (Neodymium), copper windings, IE4 rated
  • Dryer Vessels: Carbon steel, internal epoxy coating
  • Desiccant Media: Activated alumina (activated aluminum oxide)
  • Oil Separator: Glass fiber coalescing element

Structural Features:

  • VSD inverter cabinet integrated into the compressor canopy
  • Two dryer towers with automatic valve switching
  • Elektronikon Mk5 controller manages both compressor speed and dryer regeneration cycles
  • Condensate auto-drain on both compressor and dryer
  • Sound-attenuated canopy with acoustic foam lining

Working Principle:
The PM VSD motor continuously adjusts rotor speed (typically 2,900–14,500 RPM) to maintain constant discharge pressure regardless of demand. When demand drops, speed decreases, and power consumption drops cubically (affinity laws). The integrated desiccant dryer uses two towers: one dries the air while the other regenerates using a portion of the dried air (heatless regeneration), achieving a −40°C pressure dew point.

Key Advantages:

  • Up to 35% energy savings vs. fixed-speed compressor
  • IE4 PM motor eliminates rotor losses — no slip, no excitation current
  • Integrated dryer eliminates separate dryer purchase, piping, and installation costs
  • −40°C dew point — suitable for instrument air and sensitive processes
  • Elektronikon Mk5 provides full remote monitoring via Elektronikon Connect

Applicable Industries:
Food & beverage, pharmaceuticals, electronics, automotive paint shops, hospitals, laboratories, any facility with variable air demand.

Installation Requirements:

  • Indoor installation, minimum 1.5 m clearance
  • Ambient temperature: 0°C to +45°C
  • Floor load: 1,400 kg
  • Electrical: 400V/50Hz/3-phase, 100A circuit breaker (VSD draws less current at partial load)
  • No additional dryer piping required — dryer is factory-integrated

Usage Notes:

  • Desiccant media replacement: every 3 to 5 years (depends on air quality)
  • Oil change: 8,000 hours or 2 years (VSD operation extends oil life due to lower average temperatures)
  • Check dryer tower switching valve operation monthly
  • Ensure inlet air filter is clean — contaminated air degrades desiccant rapidly
