Yokogawa YS1360-021/A05

Product Overview:
The Yokogawa YS1360-021/A05 is a field-mounted voice alarm device from the YS1360 series. It combines a high-output speaker with a rotating LED beacon to provide audible and visual alarm indication in hazardous areas. The “021” specifies the sound pattern and volume configuration, and “/A05” denotes the mounting bracket and regional variant.

  • Lens: Polycarbonate (UV-stabilized, shatter-resistant)
  • Internal bracket: 316L stainless steel
  • Cable gland: Nickel-plated brass with EPDM seal
  • Gasket: Silicone rubber

Structural Features:

  • Robust weatherproof enclosure suitable for outdoor installation
  • Rotating LED beacon on top of the housing
  • Loudspeaker grille on the front face
  • Mounting flange with 4 bolt holes (/A05 bracket variant)
  • DIP switch panel on the side for offline configuration

Working Principle:
When an alarm input contact closes (dry contact closure or 24 V DC signal), the internal controller activates the corresponding voice message playback through the power amplifier and speaker. Simultaneously, the LED driver circuit activates the rotating red beacon. The voice messages are stored in non-volatile memory and played back via a digital-to-analog converter and audio amplifier. The system operates on 24 V DC, drawing current from the loop.

Advantages & Highlights:

  • 105 dB output ensures audibility in high-noise industrial environments (up to 100 dB ambient)
  • Voice messages convey specific alarm information (e.g., “FIRE ALARM — EVACUATE”) reducing response confusion
  • Intrinsically safe for Zone 0/1 installation
  • IP66/IP67 rating for outdoor and washdown environments
  • Four independent alarm zones with unique voice messages per zone

Applicable Industries:

  • Oil and gas (onshore and offshore platforms)
  • Chemical and petrochemical plants
  • Refineries
  • LNG terminals
  • Pharmaceutical manufacturing
  • Mining operations

Installation Requirements:

  • Mount at a height of 2.0 to 3.5 meters for optimal audibility and visibility
  • Ensure the LED beacon is not obstructed by structures or equipment
  • Use intrinsically safe barrier (Zener barrier) if required by the area classification
  • Cable entry must use certified cable glands rated for the hazardous area
  • Verify all 4 alarm input signals are correctly wired before commissioning

Usage Precautions:

  • Do not disassemble the housing in a hazardous area
  • Perform monthly functional test using the test button
  • Replace the unit if the sound level drops below 85 dB at 1 meter
  • Ensure the mounting bracket is securely fastened (torque: 10 N·m)
  • Do not paint or modify the housing (affects certification)
