Woodward 9906-717
Product Identification: Digital Valve Positioner (DVP) — Woodward’s state-of-the-art electric actuation driver.
Product Overview: The 9906-717 is a Digital Valve Positioner (DVP) — a rugged, compact driver for electric actuation. The DVP provides positioning based on a demand signal from the control system and is designed for use with various Woodward valves and actuators. It supports redundant installations and is the core driver component in multi-DVP cabinet assemblies (such as the 5-DVP cabinet used for LM6000PF applications).
Detailed content
Working Principle: The DVP is designed to control valves and actuators with either Limited Angle Torque (LAT) or Brushless DC (BLDC) motor types. The driver positions based on resolver feedback located on the valve or actuator. Woodward’s integrated “ID module” technology enables plug-and-play operation: upon connection to a valve or actuator equipped with an ID module, the DVP automatically reads critical valve-specific information to configure the driver.

For cabinet applications: 24 Vdc power feeds through a thermostat to operate a DC fan or heating element
-
Refer to Woodward Control Wiring Diagram 9971-1917 and Layout Drawing 9934-1544 for cabinet wiring
Usage Precautions:
-
Do not open door while energized unless area is known to be non-hazardous (marked on DVP label)
-
Prime mover must be equipped with an independent overspeed shutdown device
-
Read entire manual and all related publications before installation, operation, or servicing
-
Unauthorized modifications outside specified limits void warranty and may cause personal injury or property damage
-
Observe ESD precautions when handling electronic modules
-
Verify latest revision of all publications via Woodward’s publication system (manual 26311)
-
In hazardous locations, ensure all wiring is fully enclosed in conduit; substitution of components may impair suitability for Class I, Division 2
