Woodward 9905-665

Product Name: Woodward 2301A Series Load Sharing and Speed Control (9905/9907 Series)
Product Introduction: The 9905-665 is part of the Woodward 2301A 9905/9907 series — Electronic Load Sharing and Speed Control. These controls govern the speed and load sharing of generators driven by diesel or gasoline engines, or steam or gas turbines. The control is housed in a sheet-metal chassis and consists of a single printed circuit board, with all potentiometers accessible from the front.

  • Adjustable idle-to-rated speed ramps
  • Start fuel limiting
  • Failed speed sensor protection
  • Four switch-selectable speed ranges
  • Forward- or reverse-acting configurations

  • Some 2301A models include temperature limiting (Type K thermocouple) or process limiting (4–20 mA / 1–5 Vdc)
Application Scenarios: Generator systems driven by diesel engines, gas engines, steam turbines, or gas turbines. Suitable for single-prime-mover operation, isolated bus paralleling, and infinite bus base loading.
Working Principle: The 2301A provides control in either isochronous or droop mode. It compares actual speed (from MPU) against the reference and drives the actuator via a 0–200 mA output. Load sharing is accomplished through load-sharing lines connecting multiple 2301A units.
Installation Requirements:
  • Install in a closed electrical operating area or enclosed industrial control cabinet
  • Ensure adequate ventilation and maintenance space
  • Ambient temperature must be within –40 °C to +70 °C
  • Use shielded wiring; terminate shields at the cabinet ground bus only
  • Verify correct MPU polarity
  • Do not mount the controller on the engine
Usage Precautions:
  • The engine, turbine, or other prime mover must be equipped with an overspeed shutdown device totally independent of the prime mover control system
  • Observe ESD precautions; do not touch PCB components directly
  • Do not force front-panel potentiometers beyond mechanical stops
  • Refer to Woodward 2301A LSSC Manual (Manual 82389, Revision J) for detailed safety warnings, installation, operation, and troubleshooting procedures
  • Note: Over-speed protection must be independent; unauthorized modifications constitute misuse and void warranty
