Woodward 9904-532
Overview: A Woodward 9904 series triple-offset butterfly valve with metal hard-sealing structure, used for on/off and throttling control of fuel oil and turbine oil pipelines in power plants and oil & gas industries. Suitable for fuel oil bypass and fuel cut-off pipelines, it can be paired with electric or hydraulic actuators. The triple-offset structure eliminates friction on the disc sealing surface, delivering excellent sealing performance and high temperature/pressure resistance, ideal for steam turbine and gas turbine fuel system pipelines.

Features: Triple-offset design — no friction on sealing surfaces during opening/closing, extending seal life; metal-to-metal hard seal maintaining tight shut-off under high temperature with zero leakage; erosion-resistant seat suitable for impurity-bearing oil media; valve stem blow-out prevention safety structure for enhanced pipeline safety; supports manual, electric, or hydraulic actuator configurations.
Applications: Gas turbine fuel oil pipeline cut-off valves; steam turbine lubricating oil pipeline isolation valves; oil & gas compression station fuel oil pipeline switches; power plant auxiliary oil system pipelines.
Materials: WCB carbon steel body; chrome-molybdenum alloy steel disc; hard-alloy surfaced seat; stainless steel stem.
Structure: Triple-offset butterfly valve body with flange connection; upper stem flange for actuator mounting; bi-directional pressure-bearing structure; stem blow-out prevention locking structure; metal surfaced sealing pair.
Working Principle: The actuator drives the stem to rotate, turning the disc 90° to achieve fully open/closed states. The triple-offset geometry brings the disc into contact with the seat only at the instant of closure, keeping the sealing surfaces separated during transit to avoid frictional wear. The metal sealing pair achieves tight shut-off of pipeline media.
Installation & Precautions: Install according to the flow direction marking on the body. Media can flow bidirectionally, but priority should be given to the arrow on the body. The pipeline must be stress-relieved; the valve must not bear pipeline weight. The pipeline must be completely purged before installation to remove welding slag and debris. The actuator must be aligned during installation; lateral torque on the stem is not allowed. Reserve space for full-stroke valve operation. Do not use the valve for long-term throttling at small openings — prolonged throttling will erode and damage the metal hard seal. Operate full-stroke open/close regularly to prevent disc sticking due to media sedimentation. Operation beyond nominal pressure or temperature is prohibited. Do not strike the sealing surface during maintenance, as impacts on the hard alloy seal will directly cause internal leakage.
