Woodward 8915-930

Product Name: 3103 Gas Valve with EM35 Electric Actuator
Product Introduction: The 8915-930 is an all-electric fuel-metering package consisting of a 3103 rotary sleeve gas valve driven by an EM35 electric actuator. It eliminates the need for a hydraulic oil source and is designed for fuel-control duties in explosive atmospheres and in distributed power-generation, cogeneration, and chemical-process applications.

Detailed content

Technical Specifications: Same core platform parameters as 8915-921 — 3103 valve, EM35 actuator, 23–18,144 kg/h flow range, up to 6205 kPa inlet pressure, 172–6205 kPa differential, -40 to +149 °C fuel temperature, -40 to +93 °C ambient, 25 μm absolute filtration, ±5%/±0.25% flow accuracy, 60° shaft rotation, ±24.86 N·m continuous / ±45.20 N·m peak torque, 28 Vdc nominal brushless DC drive with samarium-cobalt magnets, 18–32 Vdc operating range, 25 A peak/15 A continuous current, 1.8 N·m/A torque constant, >600 °/sec slew rate, 150 ms open/80 ms close on 50° stroke, >5 Hz bandwidth, ±0.50° analog / ±0.10° digital position accuracy, ~44 kg weight, 2-inch 600# ANSI B16.5 flange.
Features: Fully electric drive with no hydraulic oil source; brushless DC motor with samarium-cobalt permanent magnets; non-contact resolver position feedback; spring-return to minimum fuel on de-energization; 4–20 mA analog or digital serial control; flameproof cast-aluminum enclosure with CSA and ATEX certification; self-cleaning metering geometry for sour-gas service.
Applications: Installations where no hydraulic power unit is available; fuel control in explosive (Zone 1/Division 1) areas; integration with Woodward NetCon systems; power generation, cogeneration, and chemical-process industries.
Materials: Stainless-steel valve body; through-hardened stainless-steel internals; flameproof cast-aluminum actuator housing; samarium-cobalt brushless DC motor; non-contact electromagnetic resolver.
Structure: Planetary-gear-reduction actuator directly coupled to the 3103 valve body; resolver detecting the metering-sleeve position; inlet guide tube with redundant sealing.
Working Principle: The controller signal drives the motor to adjust the valve sleeve opening; the resolver provides closed-loop feedback; on fault the spring closes the valve.
Installation Requirements: Flameproof cover bolts torqued to specification; explosion-proof cable entry and conduit sealing; handling with lifting aids (~44 kg); connection to a true earthing system; 25 μm absolute fuel filtration at the gas inlet.
Usage Precautions: Motor cable must not be coiled; power must be isolated for maintenance in hazardous areas; cable connections require periodic inspection; surface-temperature limits must be respected; mechanical stop screws must never be adjusted; valve flexibility must be checked after prolonged shutdown.
