Woodward 8915-1193
Product Introduction: The 8915-1193 is a complete fuel-metering package in which the Woodward 3103 stainless-steel rotary metering valve is factory-matched to the EM35MR all-electric actuator. The package is engineered for industrial gas-turbine fuel control, delivering high-accuracy fuel flow regulation for Dry-Low-Emission (DLE) applications while eliminating the need for a hydraulic power unit. The unit is supplied pre-calibrated and ready for direct installation into the turbine fuel system.

Application Scenarios: Industrial gas-turbine fuel control; combined-cycle and cogeneration plants; distributed energy stations; DLE combustion systems; offshore and marine gas-turbine packages; applications where hydraulic power is undesirable.
Material Composition: Valve body – stainless steel; metering sleeve and shoe – fully hardened stainless steel; actuator housing – cast aluminum, explosion-proof; motor rotor – samarium-cobalt permanent magnet bonded and sleeved; seals – fluorocarbon rubber (FKM) resistant to fuel gas.
Structural Features: The EM35MR actuator is directly coupled to the 3103 valve through a stainless-steel torsion coupling with no intermediate transmission linkage. The resolver is mounted directly on the metering sleeve to eliminate transmission-chain error. Dual roller bearings support the output shaft. The explosion-proof housing conducts motor heat to the surroundings.
Working Principle: The electronic controller sends a position command to the EM35MR driver. The driver energizes the brushless DC motor, producing precise rotation. The planetary gearhead steps down speed and increases torque. The output shaft drives the 3103 rotary sleeve through the torsion coupling, changing the metering port area and thus the fuel flow. The resolver continuously feeds the actual sleeve position back to the driver, closing the loop. On power loss the internal spring forces the sleeve to the minimum-fuel stop.
Installation Requirements: Mount using Woodward-approved lifting brackets; never lift the assembly by the electrical connectors. Ensure the 2-inch 600# ANSI B16.5 flange mating surface is clean and properly torqued. Provide 25 μm absolute fuel filtration upstream. Install a flame arrester or comply with Class I, Div 1 wiring methods for hazardous areas. Ground the actuator housing to earth.
Usage Precautions: Do not connect or disconnect electrical connectors while the circuit is live in hazardous locations. Never exceed the pressure ratings. Motor cables must not be coiled. Periodically inspect electrical connections. Do not field-disassemble the servo valve or resolver. Verify fuel cleanliness (25 μm absolute) before commissioning.
