Siemens 6GK5202-2BB00-2BA3

Product Name
SCALANCE X202-2IRT managed Industrial Ethernet PROFINET IRT switch.
Product Introduction
This managed switch provides deterministic PROFINET IRT communication for industrial automation networks. It combines copper RJ45 ports with multimode glass-fiber BFOC ports to build cabinet-to-cabinet links, motion control networks and redundant PROFINET segments.

Detailed content

Technical Specifications
Copper ports are 2 x 10/100 Mbps RJ45. Fiber ports are 2 x 100 Mbps multimode BFOC. Supported multimode fiber includes 50/125 µm and 62.5/125 µm glass fiber. Optical distance depends on fiber attenuation and Siemens optics, with documentation budgets up to 3 km for suitable multimode configurations. Redundant power input is 24 V DC with operating range 18 V DC to 32 V DC. Management functions include Web-Based Management, CLI and SNMP. Redundancy functions include MRP and MRPD. Real-time functions include PROFINET IRT. The switch operates as PROFINET IO device. Error signaling uses one set-button contact terminal. C-PLUG configuration storage is optional. Protection rating is IP30 for cabinet installation. Dimensions are 60 mm width, 125 mm height and 124 mm depth. Net weight is 0.955 kg. Operating temperature is -10 °C to +60 °C.
Functional Features
The device performs isochronous real-time switching, ring redundancy, port diagnostics, LED status reporting, PROFINET device integration and fast configuration replacement through C-PLUG. IRT scheduling supports motion applications with strict jitter requirements.
Application Scenarios
PROFINET IRT servo and motion networks, automotive welding cells, robotic lines, machine-to-machine fiber backbones, high-electromagnetic-interference cabinets, redundant PROFINET ring segments and compact S7-controller communication nodes.
Performance Parameters
RJ45 ports provide 10/100 Mbps auto-negotiation. BFOC ports provide 100 Mbps multimode optical transmission. MRP/MRPD provide fast ring reconvergence. IRT scheduling maintains deterministic cycle synchronization for distributed drives and I/O.
Material Composition
Housing uses industrial aluminum and polycarbonate blend for EMI stability and thermal performance. Internal circuits use FR-4 PCBs, managed-switch ASICs, RJ45 magnetics and BFOC optical transceivers. Terminal block uses tinned copper alloy.
Structural Characteristics
The compact housing supports 35 mm DIN rail, S7-300 profile rail or wall mounting. Front panel provides RJ45 ports, BFOC ports, LEDs, set button and error-contact terminal. Side or internal slot supports optional C-PLUG. Redundant power terminals are located on the front or lower terminal strip according to the mounting version.
Working Principle
Incoming Ethernet frames are classified by the managed switching engine. IRT traffic receives reserved time windows for deterministic forwarding. MRP or MRPD monitors ring health and reroutes communication after link failure. PROFINET IO data exchanges cyclically with the controller. Diagnostic events are reported by LEDs, SNMP, web interface and the error-contact relay.
Installation Requirements
Mount inside an IP54 or higher cabinet because the switch is IP30. Install on 35 mm DIN rail or approved wall bracket with adequate clearance for air convection. Connect two independent 24 V DC supplies for power redundancy. Use industrial shielded RJ45 cables for copper links. Use approved multimode BFOC patch cords and respect minimum bend radius.
Usage Precautions
Confirm BFOC transmit and receive orientation at both ends of each fiber link. Transfer the C-PLUG to the replacement unit during swaps to preserve configuration. Do not install in outdoor or wet locations without protective enclosure. Verify IRT topology planning in TIA Portal before commissioning. Keep firmware compatible with the PROFINET controller redundancy mode.
