MTL 8206-TI-IS

Product Name: PAC8000 8-Channel Intrinsically Safe RTD and Resistance Input Module
Product Introduction: This temperature input module reads RTD and resistance signals from hazardous-area sensors and converts them to digital temperature or resistance values for the PAC8000 system. It is intended for accurate multi-point temperature monitoring without external IS transmitters.

Detailed content

Technical Specifications: 8 RTD/resistance inputs; 2-, 3- or 4-wire RTD; supported Pt100 and Pt500 to BS EN 60751, Ni120 to DIN 43760, jPt100 to JIS C1604; resistance input 0–110 Ω, 0–280 Ω, 0–470 Ω and 0–2000 Ω depending on excitation; 16-bit resolution; excitation 211 μA nominal, 48 μA for 0–2000 Ω; compliance voltage 6.8 V; channel-to-Railbus isolation 60 V peak; IS Railbus 12 V, maximum 120 mA; power dissipation 1.5 W maximum.
Functional Features: Per-channel sensor type selection; high and low alarms; configurable input dead band; selectable filtering; open-circuit fault drive selectable disabled, upscale or downscale; independent channel fault behavior; user-defined linearization table.
Performance Parameters: Pt100/Pt500 -200 to +850 °C; jPt100 -200 to +650 °C; Ni120 -60 to +250 °C; accuracy ±0.05 % span at 25 °C, ±0.1 % from +10 to +40 °C, ±0.2 % from -40 to +70 °C; response time maximum 600 ms; series-mode rejection greater than 50 dB at 50/60 Hz; maximum loop cable resistance 50 Ω.
Material And Structure: IS industrial enclosure with conformal coating; module width 42 mm; weight 245 g; key code C3; PAC8000 carrier mounting; dedicated IS RTD field terminal such as 8626-FT-IS.
Working Principle: A constant-current source excites the RTD or resistance element. The ADC measures voltage drop, compensates for wiring configuration and excitation drift, applies the selected sensor curve, and publishes temperature or resistance values on the Railbus with fault status.
Installation Requirements: Use only approved IS RTD field terminals; select 2-, 3- or 4-wire configuration to match sensor wiring; keep total field-circuit capacitance and inductance within IS entity limits; verify key code C3; mount on PAC8000 carrier or DIN rail with proper earthing.
Application Scenarios: Tank temperature monitoring, reactor skin thermometry, turbine bearing temperature, cryogenic storage, chemical batch vessels and hazardous-area HVAC sensing.
Usage Precautions: Do not substitute non-IS RTD terminals. Verify Pt versus Ni versus jPt calibration before start-up. For 0–2000 Ω or Pt500 ranges, apply manufacturer correction notes for preceding channels. Inspect open-circuit fault configuration so false trips do not occur during sensor maintenance.
