Moog D662Z760A Pilot-Operated Proportional Valve

  • Product Introduction: This model is a high-performance proportional valve from Moog’s D662 series, designed for large-flow applications requiring proportional control of flow and pressure. It combines a pilot stage with a main spool valve, using electronic feedback to maintain precise control over a wide range of operating conditions. The valve is suitable for industrial systems where variable flow rates are needed, such as in plastic extrusion and metal forming.

Detailed content

  • Technical Specifications: The maximum operating pressure is 350 bar (5,000 psi). The rated flow rate ranges from 300–1,500 l/min (79–396 gpm) at a pressure drop of 5 bar (75 psi) per land. It operates on 24 VDC (18–32 VDC) and accepts ±10 V or 4–20 mA input signals. The step response time is 20–50 ms, with linearity error <±1% for consistent performance.
  • Functional Features: The pilot stage uses a ServoJet design for fast response, while the main spool features large flow passages to handle high volumes without excessive pressure loss. Electronic feedback via a displacement sensor ensures closed-loop control, minimizing drift and improving repeatability. It includes adjustable gain and offset settings, allowing customization for specific system requirements. The valve’s fail-safe mode returns the spool to a  position during power loss, preventing equipment damage.
  • Application Scenarios: Used in plastic extrusion lines to control screw speed and die pressure, ensuring uniform product dimensions. In large hydraulic presses, it regulates ram speed for precise metal forging. It also controls flow in water treatment plants, adjusting valve positions to maintain optimal pressure and flow rates.
