Kollmorgen SE55000-0000

Product Introduction:
The SE55000-0000 is a member of the Kollmorgen Seidel SERVOSTAR SE family, an early-generation digital servo drive for brushless motors. It provides torque, speed and position control via resolver or encoder feedback. Now obsolete but widely used in retrofit of late-1990s machine tools.

Detailed content

Technical Specifications:
  • Input: 3 × 400 VAC ±10%, 50/60 Hz
  • Continuous current: 25 A (depending on firmware)
  • Peak current: 50 A for 2 s
  • Feedback: resolver, incremental encoder
  • Control modes: torque, speed, position (step/dir or ±10 V)
  • Communication: RS232 config port, optional DeviceNet/Profibus
  • Switching: 8 kHz PWM
  • Mounting: panel, 19-inch rack width
Features:
  • Fully digital DSP control
  • Auto-commissioning of motor parameters
  • Integrated brake chopper output
  • LED status + 7-seg diagnostic
Working Principle:
AC mains rectified to DC bus, IGBT bridge synthesizes sinusoidal current. DSP executes PI current loop at 8 kHz, outer speed/position loop at 1–2 kHz.
Materials & Construction:
  • Sheet-steel chassis, molded heat sink
  • Conformal-coated PCBs
Installation Requirements:
  • 200 mm clearance above/below for convection
  • Separate PE ground, 4 mm² minimum
  • Motor cable < 25 m unshielded / < 50 m shielded
Precautions:
  • Not RoHS; capacitors age after 15 years—reform before power-up
  • Disable outputs before connecting resolver
  • Set motor ID manually if plug-and-play fails
