Kollmorgen SBD2-20-1101-0000023/160-20

Product Name: External Dynamic Brake Resistor Module (SBD2 Family)
Product Introduction: This is a Kollmorgen external braking resistor used to dissipate regenerative energy from decelerating servo motors when internal drive braking capacity is exceeded.

Detailed content

Technical Specification:
  • Family: SBD2-20 (STEP-type plate/tube resistor)
  • Resistance: 23 Ω
  • Continuous Power: 2000 W
  • Short-time Power: 3200 W
  • Max Bus Voltage: 850 VDC
  • Energy Absorption: 200 kJ per 120 s cycle
  • Compatible Drives: AKD-x02407, S600/S601–S620, S700, S300/S400 (with 23 Ω class)
  • Protection: IP20 (BAR/BAS) or IP40 (BAFP) depending on sub-type
  • Certification: CE, UL, RoHS
Functional Characteristics:
  • Mounts outside cabinet or in ventilated zone
  • Reduces DC-bus overvoltage during rapid deceleration
  • Prevents drive fault F600 / overvoltage trips
Working Principle: During four-quadrant operation, motor acts as generator; energy is dumped into resistor through drive brake chopper.
Application Scenario: Vertical axes, high-inertia flywheels, frequent reversing conveyors, press feeds.
Installation Requirement:
  • Maintain 200 mm clearance (BAR) or 300 mm (BAS) free space around resistor
  • Use listed brake cable, separate from signal wiring
  • Torque terminal screws to drive spec
Usage Note: Never operate above 160 % of continuous rating; resistor surface exceeds 100 °C in normal use.
