Kollmorgen S74802-NANANA

Product Introduction:
The S74802-NANANA is a digital servo drive from Kollmorgen’s S-Series product line, engineered for high-bandwidth motion control of brushless servo motors. It features field-oriented control (FOC) with auto-tuning capabilities, delivering precise torque, velocity, and position control. The “NANANA” configuration indicates a base unit with no additional options installed — no internal brake chopper, no line filter, no extended I/O.

Functional Features:

  • Auto-Tuning: One-button motor identification (resistance, inductance, back-EMF, inertia)
  • Advanced FOC algorithm with dead-time compensation and cross-coupling cancellation
  • S-Curve and Trapezoidal profile generation with jerk limiting
  • Electronic gearing with up to 32:1 ratio
  • Camming function with up to 32 cam profiles
  • Safe Torque Off (STO) per IEC 61800-5-2
  • Brake control output (24 VDC, 1 A) — NOT INCLUDED in NANANA config

Structural Features:

  • Power Stage: IGBT modules with integrated freewheeling diodes
  • DC Bus: Electrolytic capacitors rated for 565 VDC
  • Control Board: 32-bit DSP + FPGA for real-time control
  • Cooling: Forced-air convection (internal fan)
  • Connectors: Pluggable terminal blocks for power, motor, feedback, and I/O

Advantages:

  • High current density in compact form factor
  • Wide feedback compatibility — works with resolver, encoder, and absolute feedback
  • EtherCAT master/slave for synchronized multi-axis systems
  • Extensive tuning tools via Kollmorgen Workbench software

Applicable Industries:

  • Multi-axis robotics
  • CNC machines (milling, turning, grinding)
  • Print and packaging
  • Semiconductor wafer handling
  • Medical device automation

Installation Requirements:

  • Mount in control cabinet with minimum 100 mm clearance on all sides for airflow
  • Connect 3-phase mains (L1, L2, L3) + PE to R/S/T/PE terminals
  • Connect motor phases (U, V, W) to corresponding output terminals
  • Connect feedback cable to dedicated feedback connector (J4)
  • Ground the drive chassis to protective earth with <0.1 Ω impedance

Usage Notes:

  • NANANA configuration means no internal brake resistor — external brake resistor required if using regenerative loads
  • NANANA means no line-side EMI filter — add 5AF-1300-05 or equivalent externally if EMC compliance is required
  • Maximum ambient temperature for full rated output is 40°C; derate linearly to 0 A at 50°C
  • Always perform auto-tuning after motor replacement or mechanical coupling change
