Kollmorgen S71202-NANANA-NA

Product Introduction:
The S71202-NANANA-NA is a high-end servo drive from Kollmorgen’s S700 product line — the company’s most advanced motion control platform. The model number decodes as: S7 (series), 1 (single-axis), 20 (20 A continuous), 2 (revision). The “NANANA-NA” suffix indicates a standard configuration without optional modules, for North American market. This drive delivers 20 A continuous output with EtherCAT primary communication and full functional safety integration.

Functional Features:

  • Advanced motion controller: Supports electronic camming (up to 32 cams), gear ratios up to 1:1000000, spline interpolation, pth-order polynomial motion profiles
  • Flexible I/O: 8 digital inputs, 4 digital outputs, 2 analog inputs (±10 V, 16-bit), 1 analog output (±10 V, 16-bit)
  • Regenerative energy: Integrated brake chopper, supports external brake resistor up to 100 Ω / 1000 W
  • Automatic identification: Drive auto-detects connected motor via feedback data
  • One-button auto-tuning for current, velocity, and position loops
  • Kollmorgen Automation Engine (KAE): Supports IEC 61131-3 PLC logic execution on the drive itself

Performance Parameters:

Mode Performance
Positioning Repeatability ±0.5 encoder counts (with EnDat 2.2)
Velocity Ripple < 0.1% (rated speed)
Current Loop Bandwidth ~1000 Hz
Velocity Loop Bandwidth ~300 Hz
Position Loop Bandwidth ~125 Hz
Following Error (at 1 kHz update) < 10 encoder counts (typical)

Advantages:

  • S700 is Kollmorgen’s highest-performance drive — lowest ripple, highest bandwidth
  • Full functional safety suite (STO, SS1, SLS, SLP, SOS) — SIL 3 / PLe / Category 3
  • EtherCAT with SoE (Safe over EtherCAT) — single cable for motion + safety
  • KAE (Kollmorgen Automation Engine) — reduces need for external PLC
  • Best-in-class velocity ripple for precision applications

Applicable Industries:
Semiconductor manufacturing, precision optics, high-speed packaging, robotics (6-axis), CNC machining centers, medical devices, defense/aerospace

Installation Requirements:

  • Mount with minimum 100 mm clearance on all sides
  • EtherCAT cable: Shielded CAT5e/CAT6, maximum 100 m between nodes, 100 m from drive to first node
  • Protective earth: < 0.1 Ω to main earth bus
  • Brake resistor wiring: Use shielded cable, maximum 5 m from drive terminals
  • Do not connect/disconnect motor or encoder cables under power

Usage Notes:

  • Derate 1.5% per °C above 40°C ambient
  • Configure all safety functions (STO, SS1, SLS, SLP, SOS) before first enable — required for SIL 3 / PLe compliance
  • Use Kollmorgen Workbench 3 (or later) with S700 plugin for full configuration
  • Do not exceed 565 V DC on the bus under any condition
