Kollmorgen S70602-SENANA

Product Introduction:
The S70602-SENANA is a high-performance AC servo motor from Kollmorgen’s S70 product family with a 60 mm frame size. The suffix breakdown: “60” = 60 mm frame, “02” = stack length code 02 (medium length), “SE” = single-turn absolute encoder, “NA” = no brake, “NA” = no keyway (smooth shaft). This motor delivers high torque in a compact package with absolute position feedback.

Structural Features:

  • 60 mm outer diameter cylindrical design
  • Rear flange mounting with 4 bolt holes (M4)
  • Smooth shaft (no keyway) for clamping hub connection
  • No holding brake for minimal inertia
  • Single-turn absolute encoder mounted on rear shaft end
  • Sealed precision ball bearings

Material Composition:

  • Stator Core: Silicon steel laminations (0.2 mm)
  • Rotor Magnets: Neodymium Iron Boron (NdFeB, N42SH)
  • Shaft: Stainless steel (AISI 303)
  • Housing: Aluminum alloy (6061-T6), anodized
  • Bearings: Stainless steel sealed ball bearings
  • Windings: Class H insulation (180°C), copper wire, VPI impregnated

Working Principle:
Three-phase PMSM operation. The servo drive sends PWM currents to the stator, creating a rotating magnetic field that the NdFeB rotor follows synchronously. The single-turn absolute encoder provides position data (128 counts/rev) to the drive, enabling immediate position knowledge on power-up without homing. The smooth shaft eliminates backlash in coupling applications.

Functional Features:

  • Single-turn absolute encoder eliminates homing routine after every power cycle
  • Smooth shaft for zero-backlash coupling
  • No brake for fastest acceleration
  • Compatible with AKD, AKD-P, AKD2G drives
  • 3:1 peak-to-continuous torque ratio

Advantages:

  • Absolute position on power-up — no homing required within one revolution
  • Smooth shaft — zero backlash for precision motion
  • High torque-to-inertia ratio in 60 mm frame
  • No brake — lightest weight option in S70 family
  • Wide speed range up to 5000 RPM

Applicable Industries:

  • Collaborative robot joints
  • Pick-and-place machines
  • Medical device actuators
  • Laboratory automation
  • 3D printers (industrial)
  • Valve actuators

Installation Requirements:

  • Mount using 4× M4 bolts on rear flange (torque: 1.2 Nm)
  • Use clamping hub on smooth shaft — do not use set screws
  • Align shaft to load within 0.03 mm TIR
  • Connect encoder cable via M23 connector (max 15 m)
  • Provide minimum 15 mm clearance around motor body

Usage Notes:

  • Single-turn absolute: position is lost after more than one revolution without tracking
  • Do not use set screws on smooth shaft — risk of shaft damage
  • Maximum continuous ambient: 40°C
  • Derate current by 10% per 10°C above 40°C
