Kollmorgen S70602-NAAKD

Product Overview:
The Kollmorgen S70602-NAAKD is a member of the Kollmorgen S700 family of fully digital single-axis servo amplifiers. It accepts a wide-range three-phase AC mains input (208–480 VAC), builds an internal DC bus via a rectifier stage, and synthesizes a three-phase PWM output through an IGBT bridge to drive permanent-magnet synchronous servo motors (and, with proper parameterization, asynchronous motors). The “S70602” core denotes the S700 platform, 6 A RMS continuous output, standard voltage class.

Working Principle:
The Kollmorgen S70602-NAAKD rectifies the incoming 3-phase AC mains to a DC link (290–675 VDC), then uses an IGBT inverter bridge switching at 8 kHz to synthesize variable-frequency 3-phase voltage to the motor. A 32-bit DSP/FPGA executes field-oriented control (FOC): the feedback device (resolver/EnDat/Hiperface DSL etc.) supplies rotor angle, the current loop regulates d/q-axis currents at >2 kHz bandwidth, and outer velocity/position loops close through EtherCAT/CANopen or analog/pulse commands. STO circuitry hard-disables gate drives on safety demand without removing power from the DC bus.
Structure & Material:
  • Aluminum extruded heatsink chassis with sheet-steel end caps
  • PCB stacks: power board (IGBT + DC bus caps + brake chopper), control board (DSP/FPGA + feedback interface), safety board (dual-channel STO)
  • Rotatable M23-style power and feedback connectors (standard connector set per NAAKD)
  • Internal fan mounted at rear, drawing air vertically through heatsink fins
  • MMC card slot on front fascia under cover
Application Scenarios:
  • Packaging machines (form-fill-seal, labeling, cartoning)
  • Printing presses and register control
  • CNC aux axes and small feed axes
  • Robotic joints (SCARA, Delta, AGV drive stages)
  • Semiconductor wafer handling and pick-and-place
  • Test rigs and lab automation requiring 6 A class servo axis
Installation Requirements:
  • Mount vertically inside a control cabinet (IP54+ enclosure environment), DIN rail or panel
  • Maintain ≥ 50 mm clearance above and below for fan airflow; do not block rear fan exhaust
  • Supply 24 VDC auxiliary from isolated PSU before applying mains
  • Use shielded motor power cable and shielded feedback cable, grounded 360° at both ends
  • DC bus of parallel-connected S700 units must come from the same mains; total parallel current ≤ 48 A RMS for S701–S724 class
  • User-side fusing/branch protection required per Kollmorgen fuse table (TN/TT grounded neutral supply)
Usage Notes:
  • STO inputs must be wired dual-channel; never bridge STO to enable silent run—violates machinery directive
  • Confirm NAAKD means no expansion bus card: networking beyond EtherCAT/CANopen needs slot card
  • Auto-tuning works best with Kollmorgen AKM motors; third-party motors need manual R/L/Ke entry
  • Do not remove cover until DC bus discharged (< 60 VDC) confirmed on terminals
  • Firmware mismatch between replacement unit and existing machine can break EtherCAT sync—clone via MMC before swap
  • At 40–55 °C ambient, output current derates 2.5 % per °C; above 55 °C drive trips on overtemperature
