Kollmorgen S70602-NA

Product Introduction
The S70602-NA is a high-performance, compact digital servo drive from the S700 series, designed for demanding dynamic applications. The “-NA” suffix typically denotes a base unit with no expansion cards installed but includes onboard EtherCAT and CANopen.

Detailed content

Technical Specifications
  • Continuous Output Current: 6 Arms
  • Peak Output Current: 18 Arms (approx. 2 seconds)
  • Input Voltage: 208 – 480 VAC, 3-phase
  • Rated Power: 4.5 kVA
  • Auxiliary Supply: 24 VDC (required for logic)
  • Safety: Dual-channel STO (Safe Torque Off), SIL3 / PLe compliant
  • Communication: Onboard EtherCAT, CANopen
  • Feedback: Resolver, Incremental, Sine/Cos, Comcoder (via main board)
Functional Features
  • High Bandwidth: Advanced current control for excellent dynamic response.
  • Compact Design: Narrow housing (~76 mm width) saves cabinet space.
  • Integrated EMI Filter: Built-in filter meets Class A EMI standards.
  • Onboard I/O: 6 digital inputs, 2 digital outputs, 2 analog inputs (+/-10V).
  • Expansion: 3 front slots available (though “-NA” means currently empty).
  • Regenerative Braking: Integrated dynamic braking capability.
Material & Structure
  • Housing: Aluminum extrusion with IP20 rating.
  • Cooling: Integrated rear-mounted fan (forced air cooling).
  • Connectors: Screw terminals for power/I/O, D-sub or hybrid connectors for feedback.
  • Dimensions: Approx. 76 x 330 x 279 mm (W x H x D).
  • Weight: Approx. 4.4 kg.
Working Principle
Employs a 32-bit DSP for real-time control loops (current, speed, position). It receives cyclic commands via EtherCAT/CANopen or analog signals and modulates the inverter stage using space vector PWM. Safety circuits (STO) physically disable gate drivers upon trigger, ensuring torque removal.
Installation Requirements
  • Panel mount in vertical orientation with minimum 50mm top/bottom clearance for airflow.
  • Connect 24V DC logic supply independently or shared as required.
  • Shield motor cables and connect shield to drive housing ground terminal.
  • Ensure STO inputs are wired according to safety category requirements (jumper if not used, but not recommended).
Usage Notes
  • Fan must be unobstructed; drive faults on overtemp if cooling fails.
  • S700 supports single-cable solutions (SFD3/Hiperface DSL) only with expansion cards; base unit uses separate feedback cables.
  • Firmware updates managed via DriveGUI software.
  • Ambient temp 0-40°C (derating to 55°C).
Applications
High-speed robotics, semiconductor manufacturing, electronics assembly, flying shear applications, printing, and converting.
