Functional Features:

  • SSI output — simple point-to-point connection, no addressing required
  • 13-bit resolution — 8192 positions per revolution
  • Gray code output — eliminates position errors during bit transitions
  • Bidirectional SSI — supports daisy-chain and read-back
  • Built-in CRC check for data integrity

Structural Characteristics:

  • Ø58 mm cylindrical body
  • Precision ball bearings
  • Sealed optical code disk with LED
  • M23 connector, IP67 sealed

Working Principle:
An LED reads a glass code disk with 13-bit Gray code tracks. A photodetector converts the pattern to digital data. The SSI protocol clocks out position data on each rising edge of the clock signal, with the most significant bit first. Gray code ensures only one bit changes between adjacent positions, preventing misreads.

Key Advantages:

  • SSI simplicity — no complex configuration, plug-and-play
  • Gray code — eliminates ambiguous transitions
  • Low latency — data available within 13 clock cycles
  • Robust single-ended signaling with good noise margin

Applicable Industries:

  • Valve position feedback
  • Antenna positioning
  • Conveyor speed/position monitoring
  • Textile machinery
  • Material handling

Installation Requirements:

  • SSI clock frequency ≤ 10 MHz
  • Use shielded twisted pair for clock and data lines
  • Terminate SSI lines at drive end only

Usage Precautions:

  • Do not exceed 8000 RPM
  • Keep code disk clean and dry
  • Verify clock polarity matches drive configuration
