Structural Features:

  • Robust laminated steel stator construction
  • High-energy samarium cobalt (SmCo) permanent magnets on rotor
  • Precision ground shaft with keyway option available
  • Integrated absolute encoder mounted on rear shaft end
  • Sealed bearing design for contamination resistance
  • Compact cylindrical form factor optimized for machine integration

Material Composition:

  • Stator Core: Silicon steel laminations (0.35 mm thickness)
  • Rotor Magnets: Samarium Cobalt (Sm2Co17)
  • Shaft: Hardened alloy steel (AISI 4340)
  • Housing: Aluminum alloy (6061-T6) with anodized finish
  • Bearings: Sealed angular contact ball bearings (steel)
  • Windings: Class H insulation (180°C rating), copper wire

Working Principle:
The motor operates on the principle of a three-phase permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM). The stator windings are energized by a servo drive (such as AKD series) producing a rotating magnetic field. The permanent magnet rotor locks to this rotating field, producing torque. The integrated single-turn absolute encoder provides position feedback to the drive for closed-loop servo control, enabling precise position, velocity, and torque regulation.

Functional Features:

  • High torque-to-inertia ratio for fast dynamic response
  • Single-turn absolute encoder eliminates homing requirement after power loss within one revolution
  • Wide speed range from 0 to 4500 RPM
  • Smooth cog-free operation at low speeds
  • Compatible with Kollmorgen AKD, AKD-P, and AKD2G servo drives

Advantages:

  • Exceptional torque density at 140 mm frame size
  • Absolute position feedback removes need for reference homing on every power cycle
  • High overload capacity (3:1 peak-to-continuous torque ratio)
  • IP65 protection suitable for harsh industrial environments
  • Low cogging torque for ultra-smooth motion at low speeds

Applicable Industries:

  • CNC machining centers
  • Packaging machinery
  • Printing presses
  • Robot joints (medium payload)
  • Semiconductor equipment
  • Textile machinery

Installation Requirements:

  • Mount using standard NEMA or IEC flange pattern
  • Ensure shaft alignment within 0.05 mm TIR
  • Provide forced air cooling at minimum 2 m/s airflow
  • Ground the motor housing to chassis ground
  • Use shielded cable for encoder connection (max 50 m)

Usage Notes:

  • Do not exceed rated continuous current of 12 A RMS per phase
  • Verify encoder cable shield grounding at drive end only
  • Operate within ambient temperature range of 0°C to 40°C
  • Derate output by 1% per °C above 40°C ambient
