Kollmorgen S60600-550

Product Introduction
Similar to the S60300 but rated for higher continuous current (6A), this S600 series drive handles larger AKM motors or higher inertia loads. It is a fully digital amplifier with vector control capabilities for synchronous servo motors.

Working Principle
Digitally synthesizes sinusoidal currents phased to the rotor position. The drive closes the torque (current) loop at high frequency (>1.2 kHz), the speed loop at up to 400 Hz, and the position loop every 250 µs to maintain synchronization with the motion controller.
Installation Requirements
  • Secure to mounting panel using 4 screws; ensure metal surface is conductive for grounding.
  • Use ferrules on stranded wire for power terminals (U/V/W, L1/L2/L3).
  • Connect shield drains to ground clamps provided on the drive chassis.
  • Maintain separation between power and feedback cables (minimum 10 cm or shielded crossover at 90 degrees).
Usage Notes
  • S600 is mature/discontinued; check Kollmorgen migration guides for AKD/S700 replacement.
  • Peak current of 18A is time-limited; repeated peaks cause overtemperature faults.
  • Auto-tuning is recommended for initial startup to set PI gains.
  • Verify motor inductance compatibility with the 8kHz switching frequency.
Applications
Mid-sized packaging machines, labeling systems, rotary tables, material handling cranes, converting equipment.
