Working Principle
Digitally synthesizes sinusoidal currents phased to the rotor position. The drive closes the torque (current) loop at high frequency (>1.2 kHz), the speed loop at up to 400 Hz, and the position loop every 250 µs to maintain synchronization with the motion controller.
Installation Requirements
-
Secure to mounting panel using 4 screws; ensure metal surface is conductive for grounding.
-
Use ferrules on stranded wire for power terminals (U/V/W, L1/L2/L3).
-
Connect shield drains to ground clamps provided on the drive chassis.
-
Maintain separation between power and feedback cables (minimum 10 cm or shielded crossover at 90 degrees).
Usage Notes
-
S600 is mature/discontinued; check Kollmorgen migration guides for AKD/S700 replacement.
-
Peak current of 18A is time-limited; repeated peaks cause overtemperature faults.
-
Auto-tuning is recommended for initial startup to set PI gains.
-
Verify motor inductance compatibility with the 8kHz switching frequency.
Applications
Mid-sized packaging machines, labeling systems, rotary tables, material handling cranes, converting equipment.
