Kollmorgen PRD-0041100E-0

Model Number: PRD-0041100E-0

Product Introduction:
The PRD-0041100E-0 is a high-precision digital resolver converter manufactured by Kollmorgen. It converts analog resolver sine/cosine signals into high-resolution digital position and velocity feedback data for servo drive systems. This device eliminates the need for analog resolver interface cards inside the servo drive by performing the conversion externally with superior noise immunity.

Functional Features:

  • Simultaneous position and velocity output in digital format
  • Multi-turn capability via counter extension (up to 4096 turns with BiSS-C)
  • Diagnostic functions: Signal quality monitoring, over-temperature warning, CRC error detection
  • Configurable via PC software (Kollmorgen Workbench / PRD Configurator)
  • Galvanic isolation between resolver input and digital output

Structural Characteristics:

  • Compact PCB-mounted module with DB-15 or M12 connector for resolver input
  • M12 or RJ45 connector for digital communication output
  • RoHS-compliant construction with conformal coating option

Working Principle:
The device receives differential sine and cosine signals from a resolver mounted on the motor shaft. An internal tracking ADC and CORDIC algorithm digitizes the angle in real time. The digital position/velocity data is then transmitted to the servo drive via a deterministic fieldbus protocol (BiSS-C / EnDat / Hiperface). The drive uses this data for closed-loop position and velocity control.

Advantages:

  • Eliminates analog noise between resolver and drive
  • Reduces cable length limitations — digital signal is immune to EMI over long runs
  • Simplifies drive design — no analog resolver interface needed in the drive
  • Higher resolution than most analog resolver interfaces

Applicable Industries:
CNC machining centers, industrial robots, printing presses, semiconductor equipment, aerospace actuators, military servo systems

Installation Requirements:

  • Mount in clean, dry control cabinet with adequate ventilation
  • Resolver cable must be shielded twisted pair, maximum length 15 m (BiSS-C) or 30 m (EnDat)
  • Digital output cable: shielded, maximum 50 m (BiSS-C)
  • Ground the resolver housing and converter chassis to the same potential

Usage Notes:

  • Do not exceed 11 Vpp on resolver input — risk of permanent damage
  • Verify resolver excitation frequency matches PRD input range (2–20 kHz)
  • Update firmware using Kollmorgen Workbench before commissioning
