Kollmorgen N41HCLM-LNK-NS-01

Product Brief: 2-phase (or 4-phase bifilar) hybrid stepping motor with 1.8° full-step angle (200 steps/rev). NEMA 42 (4.325 in × 4.325 in) flange, heavy-duty construction with Class B insulation, premium “M” winding for maximized torque. Factory-fitted with MS circular connector and 8 flying leads (for unipolar/bipolar series/parallel configurations). Shaft with keyway and shaft seal. Compatible with Kollmorgen stepper drives (7200/PD-xxx series) and 3rd-party microstepping drives.

Detailed content

NEMA Frame Size:NEMA 42 — 4.325 in × 4.325 in (109.9 mm × 109.9 mm) flange
Shaft Diameter:12.7 mm (0.500 in) with keyway (open keyway shaft)
Step Angle (Full Step):1.8° ± 3 % (200 steps/revolution)
Holding Torque (Typical, N41 size, M winding):11.3 – 12.0 N·m (1600 – 1700 oz·in)
Detent Torque:≈ 0.3 N·m
Rated Current / Phase (Series Connection):5.0 – 5.3 A/phase (typical for N41 HCLM)
Rated Current / Phase (Parallel Connection):10.0 – 10.6 A/phase (parallel — lower inductance, higher speed)
Phase Resistance (Series, 25 °C):≈ 0.55 – 0.75 Ω
Phase Inductance (Series):≈ 3.5 – 5.0 mH
Rotor Inertia:≈ 5.5 × 10⁻⁴ kg·m² (550 kg·cm²)
Number of Leads:8 leads (configurable as unipolar or bipolar series/parallel)
Insulation Class:Class B (130 °C)
Winding Type Code:M = High-torque premium winding (maximized torque density for N-frame)
Electrical Connection:MS-style circular connector + 8 leadwires
Shaft Seal: Yes (oil/dust seal on shaft extension)
Operating Temperature (Ambient):–20 °C to +40 °C
Maximum Radial Load (at shaft end):≈ 556 N
Maximum Axial Load:≈ 1800 N
Weight:≈ 5.5 – 6.5 kg
Mounting Pattern: 4× 9.5 mm (3/8 in) clearance holes on 115.9 mm (4.563 in) BCD
Compliance: CE, cURus
Applicable Industries: Heavy-duty indexing tables, large conveyor drives, ball-screw press feeds, wire drawing machines, textile take-up winders, woodworking saw carriage drives
Installation Requirements: Mount on machined NEMA 42 face; couple load coaxially; secure key in shaft keyway; connect phase leads per drive manual (bipolar series for best low-speed smoothness with microstepping drives); ensure motor frame is grounded.
Usage Notes: Use microstepping drive (≥ 10× microstep) for smoothest low-speed operation; N41 runs hot — surface temp can approach 90–100 °C at rated current; consider reduced current if holding torque requirement allows; verify supply voltage matches drive recommendation (typically 24–80 VDC for N-series with microstepping drives).
