Key Features:

  • 0.2 Ω, 300 W — Matched for 70 VDC bus AKD servo drives (AKD-P, AKD-T, AKD-B series)
  • Low inductance (< 5 μH) — Ensures fast brake response, no voltage overshoot
  • Wire-wound construction — High pulse overload capability (900 W for 10 sec)
  • Aluminum housing — Excellent heat dissipation, lightweight
  • Screw terminals — Secure, tool-free connection

Applicable Industries: Any application using Kollmorgen AKD servo drives with regenerative braking — CNC, robotics, packaging, printing, material handling

Installation Requirements:

  • Mount in well-ventilated area — Minimum 150 mm clearance on all sides
  • Connect to AKD drive braking terminals (B+, B-) using 6 AWG copper wire (max 1 m length recommended)
  • Connect ground terminal to chassis ground (< 1 Ω)
  • Do not cover or enclose the resistor — Requires free air convection

Precautions:

  • Do not exceed 300 W continuous at ambient > 40°C — Apply derating curve
  • Do not touch resistor during or immediately after operation — Surface temperature exceeds 200°C at full load
  • Ensure wire gauge is adequate — Undersized wire causes voltage drop and overheating
  • Verify braking resistor is connected BEFORE applying power to drive
